Hey All,

I do a good bit of work on cars like most of you, but we have never had a non-diesel car or truck make it to 135k. Or let me rephrase that, we have never kept a gas car past 100k.

Anyways, I drive an F350 and the wife has the escape. She's due for a new car soon but I am going to keep it and DD the hell out of it for the next few years.

What I want to do is see if there are any issues I should take care of ahead of time.

Things I've done so far:

Filters - Air and Cabin

Spark Plugs

Water Pump and Belt

Just picked up a Serpentine Belt but haven't changed it yet

And other than oil thats it. Anything else I should knock out? Drives really well right now.

Thanks,

Brad

How are the front struts and the rear shocks? Check tie rod ends too.

If you didn't drain the radiator when changing the water pump, drain and refill the radiator. Use whatever type coolant that is currently in it... don't mix coolant types. After this...drain and refill every 40-50k.

Transmission...… change filter/and or clean screen and magnet. Refill pan, but I wouldn't flush the system. Just drain and refill the pan every 40-50k or so. Use whatever type fluid that's currently in it.... or a compatible type.

If it's Rear wheel drive...… drain and refill the differential.

Thanks, I'll add the transmission work to the list.

And the rear diff.

My 99 Taurus wagon as almost 298K and the 99 Sable 246K.

Consider replacing all the coolant hoses, better in the driveway then on the highway. ;)

Fuel filter and power steering fluid.

I never owned a vehicle with less than 123K miles on it haha.
