My wife drives a 2014 Honda Pilot that she bought new and babies like it's family. It has ~45k on it so far. And the other day I noticed a couple oil spots in her parking space.

So I crawl up under there and see an oil slick going down the frame under the oil filter and think *ah-ha*
But the filter is clean, dry and tight.
The drain plug is clean and dry.
The engine, seals, belts, everything is clean and dry except that section of frame....

Turns out the minimum wage oil-change place she goes to left the old oil filter loose in the engine compartment and she's been driving around with this thing rolling around in there for about 6 weeks. It still had some oil in it when I fished it out...

I know it's a shitty job but GD-it take a little pride in your work!

Blistering ass hot. Burning fingers and forearms. And all for $1.75 at most to the poor bastard having to do it.

It can't be that bad if they still have the strength to install my oil filter "hand tight +1/4 turn" @ 7000 ft lbs!

Back about 1999-2001 or so Walmart would do a Mobil 1 synthetic oil change with the filter for $29.95 which was less than you could buy the oil for. So I let them do it ( for a while ). Long story short, they were using an air gun to remove the drain plug, ended up rounding it off and cost me $150 for the Ford dealer to remove it and put in a new plug.

Why not use a pipe wrench to remove the rounded plug?
