Are these matches open invite, or do you need to be a member?

Open! I am working on getting the Dates loaded... The matches are the 2nd Saturday in April, June, August and October (Finale).

Top 3 Match Scores count toward the Season Standings.

Perfect score is 90.

Round Count is 5 Stages x 10 shots + 2 Sighters at each stage or 60 rounds.

Folks this is some fun stuff and will make you a better long range and Precision shooter!

Guys, it's a tough course regardless. 4 challenging stages from 50 to 300yds. Definitely makes one a better shot in certain scenarios. You'll shoot off of various props, some of which are kinda tough for us old farts, lol. I'll be there to give it a good try anyway!

Bring your "tactical" pack as you can use it for support in various ways as you "solve the problem" as the match director says. Pack it with with such tactical items as woodworking clamps, C-clamps, and various smaller support bags, but slings are not allowed (being a high power shooter with a love affair for tight slings, I haven't figured the reason behind that one yet).

Hope to meet some of you guys there. It's a great way to introduce new and/or younger shooters to the sport too. I didn't shoot last year but look forward to coming back this year!

Strange that this match is announced here before it is on the CVRP calender.

Link to the rules if you're like me and don't do fb....
http://www.cvrp.org/vb/showthread.php?t=387

Slings are allowed, as is pretty much anything you can stuff in however big of a pack you can tote to the line...air mattresses, M2 ring mounts, pigmies, woodworking clamps(you think I'm kidding don't ya?) , gyro stabilization gimbals, pillows, straight-jackets (high power hardback Creedmoors are verboten though) ropes, pulleys, sandbags, and the ever trustworthy gun bearer and ammo boy.
See y'all there!!

I may have to show up to watch this!

I may have to show up to watch this!

You show up and I will put a box of bullets and a rifle in your hand. Trust me, you will want to shoot. The rules seem like a lot, but it really isn't and this is a great group of shooters. This match has a nice casual flow to it.. it is intense for the 180 seconds.. but you are not running and gunning.

Bring a chair, a cooler of water and soda and have fun!

Shooters: Thought I would post Steve's Match Run here, since some may not have FB:

Sign up begins at 9:00am, Match briefing at 9:30, and shooting starts at 10:00 am.
LOCATION:
Conover, NC. Catawba Valley Rifle and Pistol Club. Directions to the range can be found at Directions to CVRPC. www.cvrp.org The range is conveniently located a short distance off I-40 in Conover, NC (near Hickory, NC). Plenty of graveled parking is available as are indoor restrooms (men and women).
ENTRY FEE AND PAYOUT:
Entry fee is $25 each match.
Shooters will accumulate points in a best 3 out of 4 match format and the highest 3-match point total at the end of the 4th and final match will be the 2018 TSC Series Champion. Any ties (1st-5th) will be broken via shoot-off. Please note this is a series and trophies will be awarded at the last match only. Heavy-duty steel trophies will be awarded for 1st - 5th place finishers. However, each match will have it’s own individual cash payout for 1st-5th place. The cash amount will be based on a percentage of number of entries.

COURSE:
All shooting will be from a paved/concrete, covered firing line with multiple positions available. Course will consist of 5 stages at distances as follows:
Stage 1: 57 yards.
Stage 2: 112 yards.
Stage 3: 163 yards.
Stage 4: 210 yards.
Stage 5: 290 yards
Targets are IPSC “style” AR235 steel in sizes ranging from approx. 1.5” to approx. 8.5” in height.
All targets (including sighter targets) are reactive steel with no paper targets being offered.
A sighter target will be available at each Stage. Sighter targets are steel, 8” round discs, white in color.
The course of fire will consist of various size targets and will also include “hostage” style scenarios, partially blocked or hidden targets, diminishing size precision reactive targets, and other possible scenarios at the Match Directors discretion.
Targets will be engaged from multiple and various simulated field positions including prone, modified 90* prone, various barricade positions, simulated stairstep/stairwells, barrels, tank traps, spools, rooftop positions, stronghand/weakhand, supported and unsupported standing, and other positions at the Match Director’s discretion. This is NOT a benchrest match nor a “belly” match. Come prepared to shoot from a multitude of challenging positions.
“Spotters” with spotting scopes or binoculars are allowed.
Course of fire will consist of 60 rounds, 10 of which are sighters.
You will encounter 12 targets total at each stage consisting of the following: 6, free-standing targets worth 1 point each; 4 aggressor/hostage style targets worth 2 points each - but with a minus one point (-1 ) hostage kill penalty; and two very challenging "option" targets worth 3 points each - but also with a -1 point hostage kill penalty. So that’s 12 available targets with varying difficulty, and with varying risk vs. reward. 10 shots, 12 targets, you decide.
Please note that ANY of the positions described above may be encountered on ANY of the five Stages. Shooting positions will either be drawn on the morning of match day, or prescribed at the Match Director’s discretion, dependent on conditions.
NOTE: Course and targets may vary at the Match Director's discretion.

EQUIPMENT:
Match is open to all .22 rimfire rifles including bolt action, semi auto, single shot, lever, and pump actions. This match has no classifications and ALL action type compete together and likewise compete for the win together.
.22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle only. No 22 WMR, 17M2, or 17HMR rifles allowed.
No weight limit. No barrel length restrictions. Adjustable muzzle devices or “tuners” are allowed.
Muzzle brakes and “bloop tubes” are permitted, no restrictions.
The use of suppressors is permitted. All ATF rules apply.
No mechanical front rests – bipod only (Harris or Atlas type). NOTE: Only “tactical” style bipods allowed. No F-Class or “wide footprint” models allowed.
The usage of rear bags, wedge style bags, “game changers”, “pump pillows”, packs, etc. are allowed.
No “tripod and clamp” style mechanical rests are allowed unless specified at the stage briefing. Example: You may not use a RRS / ARCA tripod type setup to circumvent or shoot “over” a stage prop.
The use of a sling is permitted during any stage or position.
Shooting mats, elbow pads, etc. are allowed.
No “High Power type” shooting coats or jackets allowed.
The same gun MUST be fired throughout the course unless a verified mechanical or optical failure occurs which must be approved by the Match Director.
Permitted equipment will be addressed at the Match Briefing prior to the beginning of the match. If a competitor is found in violation of non-approved equipment for that stage, the competitor will be issued a warning with the shooter’s score for that stage entered as zero “0”, and in the event of a second offense the competitor will be disqualified. For clarity, please always ask if in question.

MATCH PROCEDURE AND COMMANDS:
Match commands and procedures will be consistent and similar to most PRS steel plate type matches.
Relays are determined by random draw.
Shooters will be given a 1 minute period to review the stage/position and prepare equipment/gear. At the end of the 1 min prep period, the shooter will step behind a “starting line” and wait for the start signal.
No pre-staging of gear is permitted. The shooter must carry all gear with him/her from the starting line to the firing position.
Shooters will start with action/bolt open and chamber flag visible, and loaded magazine inserted (if applicable). Shooters must not remove the chamber flag and chamber a live round until in firing position.
At the start signal, the competitor has 180 seconds to fire 2 sighter targets, then subsequently, 10 shots for score.
The sighter targets MUST be engaged first. The sighter target cannot be re-engaged after the competitor has begun firing for score. If the shooter fires at the “scoring” targets first, they cannot fire at the sighter target during the relay. If a competitor does not fire the allocated two rounds on the sighter target for any reason, the competitor still has a maximum of ten shots for score. If a competitor fires more than 10 rounds for score, the score for that stage shall be zero “0”.
The competitor may choose to engage any target on the stage in any order. Competitor review of the scoring below and various strategies dependent on the presented targets at each stage are advised.

If a competitor fires at a target for score prior to receiving the FIRE command, it shall be called as an “early shot” and any point scored shall be marked as a zero “0”.
At the end of the 3 minute period competitors will receive a “Cease Fire” command. Any shot fired after the Cease Fire command is given will be called as a “Late shot” and shall be scored as “0”.
At the Cease Fire command the competitor must display a clear and open action, insert an “open chamber indicator” or flag, and acknowledge clear by a show of hands.
Shooters must hold their position while targets are scored. Line officers will be present to assist in scoring.
Once all targets are scored, and all weapons deemed clear, the competitor may remove their equipment from the firing line.
NOTE: A chamber flag/open chamber indicator MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES both on the firing line and off.
Once score cards are marked, weapons removed from the line and the range clear, the command for target setters will be given. No weapon will be allowed on the firing line while target setters are downrange.
NOTE: To help ensure the target setters and downrange safety and aid in enforcement of this rule, any competitor called for handling their firearm on the firing line while persons are downrange will be disqualified and the competitor asked to remove their equipment from the line. No exceptions. No discussion. No butthurt. Just get off the line. Safety will NOT be compromised.

SCORING:
• Targets MUST fall to be scored as a HIT.
• Turned targets still standing will be counted as a miss or “0”.
• Each missed target will be scored as “0” point.
• Each “single man” or "free-standing" man hit will be scored as 1 point.
• Hostage target hit (knocked over) will be scored as minus 1 (-1) point.
• Hostage target aggressor “kills” will be scored as 2 points.
• “Option” target aggressor kills will be scored as 3 points.
• “Option” target hostage kills are scored as minus 1 (-1) point.
• If the Aggressor target AND the Hostage target falls it is scored as minus 1 (-1).
• If a Hostage target is turned and does not fall it does not count against the competitor.
• All competitors must have their scorecard verified and initialed before leaving the line and/or advancing to the next position. Blank or mismarked scorecards will be scored as “0”. Line Officers will be available for assistance in scoring or match procedures.
• Competitors will turn in their scorecard to the Match Director or Line Officer at the completion of Relay #5.
• All scorecards must be completed with the competitor’s name and contact information prior to turning it in for scoring. Scorecards with no name or identifying information will be rejected.
• In the event of a “tie” for 1st – 5th place, a “Tiebreaker Stage” will be added and will be at the Match Directors discretion. Expect targets from 57 to 290 yards.

ALIBI SHOTS:
• No alibi shots will be given for failure to fire due to equipment or ammunition malfunction.
• No alibi shots will be given for failure to fire during the allotted time.
• Alibi shots will be permitted only when the respective targets are unavailable due to crossfire or mechanical target failure in the competitor’s bank and the competitor has not fired all 10 allowed shots.
• The competitor must notify a Range Officer or the Match Director immediately if he/she has missing targets due to crossfire or mechanical target failure.
• It is the sole responsibility of the competitor to notify the Range Officer of the alibi situation.
• It is the sole responsibility of the competitor to decide to engage further targets or suspend fire and engage the targets in an alibi period.
• At the Match Director’s command, the alibi shooter will engage targets with the standard range commands and the competitor shall be given 18 seconds per alibi shot.

NOTE: If a competitor recognizes and acknowledges a missing or incorrect target in their bank of targets for score, they (or their spotter) must notify a R.O. or M.D. immediately BEFORE engaging targets.
SAFETY:
• CVRPC requires the use of open chamber indicators/flags at all times except after the load/start command has been given. ALL bolts and actions must remain open at all times except when “on stage” after the Start command is given.
• Failure to display open actions and Open Chamber Indicator will result in 1 warning, followed by disqualification.
• Eye and hearing protection must be worn by competitors, spotters, and bystanders.
• No horseplay or unsafe gun handling will be tolerated.

Please contact Steve Roe or Brian Franklin for further information or preregistration. Pre registration is recommended but not required.

I live exactly 5 miles from the range. I shoot there a couple times a year with either Kevin Sipe or Joe Lasiter, I don't know why I haven't join yet!

I know those guys. I lived on Herman-Sipe until I moved to Newton. I’m going to attempt to make it to at least one or two of these and bring a couple guys. I’m gonna really score low but what the heck. I want to learn from the pros and the only way to do it is to jump in.

Pro's? Pro's you say? I'll take that any day. Oh the stories and fun moments that happen at this match.

Sometimes the MD will allow us to take sighters from prone and then when the shoot for score command happens, we would transition to the spool, or wailing wall for score. Except sometimes you get so intense cause the group on the sighter plate is so good.. you just keep racking the points up... then... it hits you: Hey, I should be shooting off the spool! Duh!!

This happened in a match where 2 Range Officers and the Match Director did the same thing in three consecutive relays.... Good Times!!!

I have my daughter and her BFF coming to shoot.. they are 13. A friend of mine from work is coming and she is just getting into shooting pistol, but never a .22 Precision match.... come on and have some fun!!!

Well..,came to Chicago Monday morning for a one day biz trip and I'm still here. Looking like a Saturday departure.... doesn't look like I'll make it this month. Hoping things change tomorrow!!

Depends on what happens tomorrow. I'm an engineer for a plastics equipment manufacturer and this customer is clueless

Ladies and gents, here's your match time surface weather forecast....from 7amEST to 2pmEST...no rain, but we'll see who can dope wind!

I shot this match today and had a great time! I plan on returning for the next one, now that I have an idea of what to expect. Maybe I can even get a better score!!!

I wanted to go but given the wind I thought having young girls making look like a fool without wind would only double my clowning. Maybe the next match.

Fun match, Great Turnout, but wow was it windy... It was challenging and you had to really shoot and take your points today.

Pictures are up on the Facebook CVRPC TSC page... Will post a Match Director write-up once it is done...

@TNTmx9 that was some fun stuff seeing you hit those targets at 300... Smiles and Good Times!
