Figured I'd start this now. If you get info on a new can in the next couple weeks, post it up here.

I'll start based on info I saw posted elsewhere.

Silencerco Chimera 300
6.9" and 20.1 oz. No barrel length restrictions, 22 Hornet to 300 WinMag. Uses all ASR mounts.
Street price sounds like ~$800.

You and me both. Sheesh it's been a rough month, and likely won't be much better tomorrow.
Your trip tomorrow may cost me money so I 100% agree with you. That surge is calling my name.

Been there done that. LOL The barrel restriction is cool and all but who is building 4.5" 556 guns just to destroy cans? Dealers and manufacturers that don't pay the tax stamp and wait game. For the average buyer this is not that great. Looks cool but is it really just a cheaper .7" shorter saker/ Recce-7?

Bowers has two new micro cans coming out that they've teased. One is a .22LR and the other is a very small 9mm can.

The .22 can is calling to me. I like bowers, he's a standup guy.

I have an SDN-6 and technically it's not rated for my PWS MK107 7.62x39 or my (now sold) LWRC 7" 6.8SPC. I get your point though. I think griffin marketed the Recce 7 as being the only .30 cal can that could stand up to LWRC's 6.8 SBR at the time. It was actually one of the reasons I considered buying one, but once I sold the upper there went that project.

Don't forget, 3oz heavier too. 20oz just sounds way too heavy when you have nearly everything else in the 16oz neighborhood.

Yeah add Sandman S to the list

This has me scratching my head

Should’ve left the SpecWars and then make a 762K version, then dumped Sakers when the Chimera came out.

But it looks cool....and that does matter

Not too familiar with YHM's lineup, but glad to see they're doing more tubeless designs. I'd love to see them do an Omega 9K competitor (9mm and 300BLK super), or frankly any K type can, since they are usually one of the best values out there. Also very smart of them to do Omega adapters!

What’s the difference in this and the Nitro?

The more I look at this the more I like it. Solves some issues I have with other SiCo cans. If I were in the market I think I’d try one out

Nitro has the ability to swap end caps, and go from QD to DT. The Nitro is not a .30 Cal Turbo, but that's basically what the Resonator is. It's a sub-$500 QD .30 can that's 2-4oz less than the Nitro.

And the Resonator has less restrictive minimum barrel lengths. If I hadn't gotten the Nitro at the deal I did, with the intention of dedicating it to a 16" 300BLK (which happens to be the minimum length allowed), I'd probably cancel the F4 and buy a Resonator.

I got the explanation from YHM around why the excessively long minimum barrel lengths that I could post if anybody cared, but it's basically due to a conical blast baffle vs the flat design their other cans have.

For anybody just getting into the game, a Turbo/Resonator set would be nice start.

Aero Precision has a 30cal can they demo'd at industry day

I watched the Geiselle pre shotshow video last week and it looks like they made the can for their new .260 AR. Nothing pending but maybe a new player in the field....cans and complete guns. I would love to do shotshow one year....fingers crossed

New Griffin cans:

Video of the Optimus Micro and introduces new General Purpose direct thread line (GP5 and GP7) 5.56 and 7.62 cans

5.56: 6.2”, 12.5oz. $550 MSRP so it’ll be in the $400 range somewhere

7.62: 7.6”, 15.3oz. Didn’t hear the MSRP but it’ll likely be $100 or so more than the 5.56.

Both are 17-4ph stainless, have wrench flats for tightening, predrilled for pin and weld

Sounds like the Spartan 30 cal I've been asking them to make. I would guess street price will be around $400 and $500.

Me like! I wonder if that 556 can will produce numbers like the Recce5. At nearly four ounces less (2+1.8 for the mini brake you don't need).

Anyone know how the new Larue SUURG gets away with the welded baffle stack (and removeable tube to avoid being a two stamp SBR) but the ATF said No to Sig on the same thing a year or so ago?

I don't. I really don't know anything about that item. Mainly because every discussion on ARF that Mark gets involved with goes haywire...so I stay out of them unless somebody reports something.

I know this discussion is recent: https://www.ar15.com/forums/Armory/LaRue-SUURG-Suppressed-Ultimate-Upper-Receiver-Group/20-485043/

Wasn't the deal with Sig the fact they were trying to sell the baffle stack as a brake? Larue sells theirs as a one-stamp gun...it's not an SBR. (That's what I get from a quick glance at the first couple posts in the thread I linked)

That’s what Sig was doing; making a one stamp gun with the baffles acting as a large brake and the suppressor tube was removable. It’s almost identical, maybe not in appearance but concept

No...Sig was trying to make a no-stamp gun. They were selling it as a brake, then you could file a Form and buy the tube later. ATF determined the brake was a silencer part and shut it down.

Announced at SHOT Show 2013 and put into production about a year later, SIG’s permanently-attached muzzle device has always been a little controversial. It was originally touted as a brake that could be converted to a suppressor with a threaded adapter sleeve. The idea was that SIG could sell the MPX carbine and customers could buy an adapter separately. This would give shooters the instant gratification of getting the carbine right away and let them get in the NFA-waiting line in their own time.

That's not the same as was Larue is doing, even if the design is similar.

The big difference here is a military contracts and helping Larue tweak the design to gain compliance. Sig just got a middle finger. The ATF could’ve told them to repackage it

The ATF and NFA are worthless.

I can absolutely agree to the worthless statesment.

But the difference here is that Sig tried to sell a baffle stack as a brake. Larue sells it as a suppressor (with tube). I don't think it had anything to due with military contracts and Larue getting any help. Selling a 1-stamp gun to avoid an SBR stamp is different than selling a 0-stamp gun to avoid SBR & Silencer stamps.

A threaded brake, with an optional tube available, was going to be classified as a silencer part. Sig could've simply sold it as an integral firearm, but tried to play the game instead.

The end user would still have needed a stamp to suppress it.

I applaud anyone who challenges the ATF like they do.
