2019 IDPA Mountaineer Classic July 20th - Boone NC

Three of us from H20 are going thus far.

I was on hiway 194 a couple of miles from Watauga Gun club today at noon. It was 72 dgrees and breezy, while thirty minutes later it was 90 on the other side of the divide.

Heavenly.

@fieldgrade You staying up there a few nights or making it a long day? Because I am interested in this one since I do not think I can swing the Carolina Cup this year.

I've never been to an IDPA match before, do they allow spectators to take pictures in close on the stages? I don't get to many matches during the Summer months, but July in Boone doesn't sound too bad. If they do allow it, would anyone from the forums want some action shots from the match?

This is an all day 11 stage, tier 2 match where the shooters are traveling in, and paying about $125 to shoot so I don't know if this would be the match to spectate or take pics. Plus Watauga is a private gun club so unless you had paid match fees I don't know if they would let you in.

A tier 1 local club match at a public club somewhere, which they have monthly would probably be better for that. Let me know where you are and I can point you to one.

@motoman247 @dmarbell Squadding is posted. We’re shooting in squad four with Hal and Rusty. Some of the Wilmington Mafia is in the squad right behind us so there might be some heckling if we shoot too slow. :D

What's the average time for scores to get posted at this match?

Hal said likely early this week.

based on my yellow sheets between points down and penalties I dropped 78 points. for a total of 328.51 yesterday.......beautiful place, I had fun, but man major matches don't go well for me.

Also, thanks to @fieldgrade, @motoman247, @patrob86 and Hal for a great weekend in the mountains shooting and pontificating.

I have two other annual trips - a spring exhibition baseball watching trip to FL for 4 to 7 of us, depending on the year, and a late spring golf trip to Myrtle Beach for 8 of us. Each trip has been going on for me for about 20 years, +/-. Memories, no legends, have been made on these trips. Alas, I am too old to make new legends, but the bonding that occurs on such adventures far outweigh the underlying purposes of the trips.

About half way through the shoot I was thinking this was it for me on big matches - one and done. Right now I can't wait till next year to see if I can go to Ant Hill or back to Watauga!
