Glad to see the GT4 in the 718 platform. There is something really nice about a high revving 4.0 liter. I thought I was obsessed with the 718 GTS but this just blows that out of the water. I would definitely sacrifice drag race fast with the vette for the handling I'd get from the GT4. It's not a slouch by any measure. I've been driving these mountain roads near my house a lot lately for my lets get out of the house time.

Going fast is pointless unless you can brake or corner, which is why cars like these rock. Not everywhere is a drag strip, and this is a most practical way to go fast.

I'm currently looking at a new Toyota Supra for the very same reason. It's not straight line fast, they're great in the twisties.

My c7 vette is the best of both worlds but again on the roads I'm running I dont even get close to using what its capable of. I'd rather stay in high revving NA running the pants off 55 mph roads than babysitting my second gear acceleration. I have always wanted a GTR but I just can't bring myself to buying a 100k Nissan. Dont get me wrong... they are a capable machine but I dont know how I'd feel with every flat billed mouth breathing all over it. At least certain porches hold value not that its my concern because its dirty paper money and a depreciating asset but still.

GTR's are nice, but Nissan (Datsun) doesn't make anything 100k nice.

When you get the GT4 you have to let me check it out.

well now YOU'RE being an enabler! I'll probably line something up around the end of the year and call it a Christmas present to myself. The only problem is I hate ordering anything and there isnt a green one in stock anywhere local so until one pops up within 200 miles or on rennlist then I'm safe (for now.)

Owner of the company I work for picked up a 2020 silver GT4 recently. It's gorgeous and is his track car. Also has a 2012 or so Cayman R along with several other Porsches.

The 2012 Cayman R is on my short list. The other is a 2007 Turbo 911. Both can be had for 65-70.
Amnesia. Have you seen the 2012 R in a green they call geridot? It’s pretty freaking gorgeous!

I haven't but I am googling it right now! I think switch my fun car over to a porsche might be the way to go. Especially, if I hold onto it for any length of time I swear there is a bell curve for porsches where depreciation ends and appreciation begins.

Have you ever driven a GTR? I ask because it's an unbelievably capable machine (even without considering what's possible with mods), but it is the complete opposite of a GT4. What the GT4 has in spades, and the GTR completely lacks, is FEEL. You drive the GTR and you say to yourself "holy hell this is fast and handles on rails!" and then you look past the nissan titan-esque plastic gauge layout and you start to realize that the car is only fun at WOT or ridiculous cornering speed because you feel NOTHING. It is numb, horribly numb. It feels like you make suggestions to the car and it determines the best way to achieve that, which leaves you wanting. There's no reward for driving that car, aside from the amazement of what it can do. You attempt to fill that hole with more and more speed, but it's not a rewarding experience IMO. It also sound as bland as it feels. That car is silly quiet in stock form. It's a big 'meh' for me. I drove a 997 turbo back to back with the GTR and it was leagues more rewarding to drive.

Full disclosure, I am a huge GT4 fan. I came very close to purchasing a 981 GT4 last year, but couldn't make a deal happen with a dealer for a few thousand. I ended up with the bigger brother Pcar (GT3RS), but I absolutely loved, and still lust for a GT4. I was hoping that 718 GT4's at MSRP would have driven down 2016 prices, but that doesn't seem to have happened.

I went into driving the GT4 thinking that it would be a good substitute and more affordable alternative to my true lust, which was a GT3. I left driving the GT4 with the impression that it was a remarkable car. I wanted it, badly. It wasn't a substitute for anything, it was perfect. The balance, the feedback, the steering weight, the clutch pedal weight, the pedal placement, the shifter (god, it's good and I'm a former S2000 transmission snob), the throttle response, those lightweight CF buckets (a pricey option, but worth it IMO), etc. The power was enough to have fun, but not so much that you couldn't actually drive the car on the street and extract what it has to offer in the twisties. Yes, the gearing is always complained about, and yes, it sucks. It's too tall, but it's not a deal breaker. You need to drive one. You will love it. I know I did.

A GT4 as a stablemate to this guy is the dream...

I haven’t driven the gtr. I picked the 911 turbo to drive instead when I was in Vegas. I love you and hate you right now because you’re not helping me here. That GT4 is calling me. I’ll see if I can wait till the end of the year for a better deal and bonus time.

3 years ago a buddy bought a twin turbo 911. The first year it depreaciated $1,000 a week..........................$193K to $140K......way over my pay scale.
I have always had to research and buy the best performance for the dollar that I could buy. I used these these parameters:
1. 0-100
2. 100-0
3.1/4 mile time
4. Skid pad numbers
5. Top Speed
If I found anything that cost less than what I wanted that had any of ^^numbers better...I kept looking.
To beat a new Corvette at Any of those numbers above with a Porsche you will pay double the entry fee.
ANd I ain't a GM kinda guy.
The body styles on the Porsche To Me are the Most pleasing to my eye of any cars ever made.

I know it’s hard to beat a corvette. That 718 gt4 is extremely pleasing to the eyes.

Michael took me for a ride in that GT3.

But I’m used to my Outback so I wasn’t impressed at all. Meh. Just doesn’t have the sound of the sweet boxer4, and doesn’t really jam you into the seat when you hammer the right pedal. Plus I have AWD so would smash that car in twisties and off the line.
I’d have no where to store my signs and pink pussy hat for my protesting hobby.
Also, where do you put the bicycles? No rack. Lame.

I thought it would be cool, but it just wasn’t exciting at all and the wing scares kids and makes it hard to back up. I really don’t want it at all.
