I have a friend in the 70's and just got back into shooting. The only thing that he can handle recoil is a 22 and current is shooting a couple High Standards. He is having problems with getting the right ammo because the lack of a feed ramp. I loaned him my Browning Buckmark and Ruger Mark II. He or his wife was having problems racking the slide because of RA in his fingers. That was also a problem with the High Standards too.
I mentioned to him about a wheel gun and I have Ruger Single 6 and S&W 63 that I can loan him but he wants to be able to put a red dot on the gun.
Do you know any 22 wheel gun that comes with a rail to mount a red dot?

Jim, I did not know they made one for a Ruger. I will check to see if they have one for a Mark IV because that is what he will be getting if he goes the Ruger route. Thanks,

Look at Weigand. They sell mounts for various revolvers.

I even have a mount for my Taurus Tracker 22 LR /22 WMR/Magnum Revolver. It just has a Bushnell red dot.

The others have Aimpoint, Ultradot Matchdot or a Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot.

Love my mk iv with charging Halo. You can also get the extended safety and thumb ledge to help control the gun.

The SW Victory is a great gun out of the box. This is the gun I usually point new rimfire competition shooters towards, because it requires the least amount of work to make it a great gun.

I still much prefer my Rugers though. The grip angle just fits my hand much better.

Both guns are running the Tandemkross Halo Charging handles (I think thats what you meant when referring to "extenders").

My first question would be, does the RA effect his fingers to where the wont positionally affix themselves to a point where they can rack that slide, or is it the strength that's lacking? Because if his strength is down to where he cant rack those slides with his fingers and RA, I'm not sure how much more efficiently he could continually cock a DA revolver either.

Dwhite, he had no problem cocking my S&W 63. I think that he can not grab and hold the slide to pull it back. On one of his High Standards he a a brass bar tacked across the back. Looks like shit but works.

That's kinda what I figured, in my line of work I've seen some hands really astonishingly contorted from all kinds of Arthritis. The attachments for the semi autos or a revolver may work for him then.

With that tandemkross halo you could probably use a piece of brass rod hammered into the closest piece of wood to operate the slide, a hook tied to a bracelet, or even a metal stud on a heavy belt.
