Anyone set up to load this round? I no longer have any reloading equipment and just got a new toy. I have some ammo with it but looking a source for help when this runs low.

My avatar says I love that caliber... sadly, I no longer own any.
Good luck with your search. It’s a fun little wildcat.

Man I always regret the day i saw one hanging in a gun shop in Raleigh. I was a collage student and by the time i put enough money together it was gone. It was only $100, but I was a collage student. I shot one at Mecklenburg Wildlife and was killing clays on the 100yd berm from a Creedmore pistol position. And I'm pretty sure I was running open sights.

I don't know if you're going to be able to get the best out of it without reloading.

Back in the 70's I took an XP-100 in 221 Fireball and bought a McMillian stock and was going to have it re-barreled with an 16 inch Shilen barrel to make a lightweight sporter groundhog gun. A well known gunsmith in Sparta jerked me around for 2 years. He was going to re-barrel it and bed it into the stock. I finally picked it up and was so disgusted with it, I sold it to a buddy and he had someone else make a very nice rifle out of it.

With my old age shakes I'll never see the full potential of the pistol but I'll enjoy shooting it and it feels great just being able to say I have 2 and can enjoy looking at them.

Geezer..... to bad your deal didn't work out.

I have two XP's. One is an original in .221 Fireball, with the brown plastic stock and vent rib barrel. I've shot it quite a bit and it's fun.. Fireball is a great little round, and appropriately named! I haven't shot it in quite a while and need to get it out again. Only dies I have for it are an older set of RCBS, but they seem to work fine. Brass is still available from time to time from Remington, I believe. I don't know what the twist is but I only shot "light" bullets (up to 55 gr.) and they seemed to be accurate. Other XP is one of the later repeater models in 260 Rem. that I traded for and haven't fired yet. No sights so need to get a scope for that one.

If yall didnt know. some of the older models XPs ( cant remember which years ) had a recall.
After cocking, the operation of the Safety could fire the gun. Look it up so you'll know.

Actually, I think there were two recalls. First one was to modify the safety so the bolt could be opened with the safety on, and the 2nd one about the safety/trigger problem. Mine have both worked fine, and since I'm VERY careful with firearms I'm not going to worry about the recalls. Also, I think I stated above that I had an XP-100R in 260 Rem. I believe I was mistaken, and the proper caliber is 7-08. sorry about that.
