Looking for my next can. The Oculus is at the top of the list.
3 guns it would be used on: FVSR, 10/22, and 22/45.

I like the modular to be able to run the Oculus short, but what else should I look at?

I got a Griffin Checkmate with QD mounts from TarHeel State that I've been pleased with.

Spectre II.

Ditto for me on the Spectre II. Have around 1,500 flawless rounds through it so far on my Walther PPQ M2 SD host.

Oculus looks solid.....seems like it would be a great opption. Reminds me of a modular Spectre

Dead Air Mask seems to be a solid design as well.

If I was to buy another, it would be in this order:

Oculus
Mask
Spectre

The Element 2 is very nice, but not rated for 5.7x28, so I skipped it.

TBAC Takedown gets really good reviews from the guys I know that have one.

The only one mentioned so far I'd avoid is the Sparrow. I have one, and it has one advantage over some of the others...but none of your hosts would benefit from that advantage (being able to mount it inside a handguard and not worry about unscrewing the tube from the 1/2-28 adapter).

How would the Oculus work on a TacSol SBX barrel?

Should work just fine in the long config. IIRC, the 1/2-28 threads are integral to the first half of the can, so you can't leave it behind when removing the suppressor from the barrel.

The short config is probably too short to use with the TacSol shroud.

I like the Oculus, Q EL CAMINO, Mask.

I'm leaning towards the modular setup.

Mask and Oculus are in the running, Q has that Bowl type blast baffle that seems like it would be very difficult to clean.

These 2 are in the running, I don't know how much the K set would get used.

I know tone is subjective, but wonder what's the sound difference is.

DIP it for deep cleaning periodically. It's one of the reasons I prefer stainless steel.

I went with the Spectre II for the reasons already stated (DIP, covered all the calibers, etc). It's light enough that I'm not sure I would ever need it shorter. But if I was buying now, I would probably look at the Oculus - even for the extra $$$. I may be biased - I have a Surge and Obsidian in jail currently.

Innovative Arms Slingshot

Buy local....

Innovative Arms = Elgin, SC
Rugged = Traveler's Rest, SC
Dead Air = Lawrenceville, GA

all fairly local...

Mask will require cleaning more often than the Oculus due to design.

I'm curious as to what makes you lean toward Dead Air? Nothing wrong with the can at all, just wondering what the thought process is.

FRP seems to be about the lowest, and tone is supposed to be lower

For years I always recommended the spectre 2, but now I recommend the dead air mask based upon the .22 cans that I own. It's basically a shorter version of a spectre 2 in that it has all of the same pros in a smaller package.

With that said the oculus looks very nice, but I've never seen or shot one in person.

Per our text. I think the Oculus will be the new top dog. Once I get all the cans in and the testing is done I will post all the data. All the new cans will be tested side by side for FRP, ease of cleaning, cost, what's in the box, weight, and calibers. Should be a good time.

I want to come check it out when you get it in stock.

Go with either the Mask or the Occulus. The availability and price of the mask will be better, at least for awhile I'd imagine. Of all the rimfire cans I own and have shot, the Mask has been my favorite.

Ruger is great. Right up there with the Mask. You don't hear much about it as Ruger doesn't seem to send them out into the world to be reviewed. Nor do they have the following and social media footprint like Dead Air.

The tbac 22 takedown is the quietest can I have shot to date in 22. It out performs the element and that was one of the quietest cans previously. I have them in stock if you want to get one started.

I'm going to order one when I pick up my Optimus after work. I don't think it's going to be a 40week time frame again

Right now it is looking like 1.5 years on any new forms. They have almost 400k applications right now and do about 20k a month. You do the math. My current forms are at 300 days.

That's pretty discouraging for someone who's also been tossing around the idea of a 22 can
