22lr match at Frontline defense Saturday 6/30

I’ve signed up for it, but may not be 100% prepared for it. I’ve got my 455 varmint sighted in and dope verified, but I just don’t have a ton of trigger time behind it.

What’s your squad and I’ll try to get that one.

I'm in squad 3. Chris Humphries (real name)
I just adjusted everything so need to get up there Friday to rezero and get some dope.
Several of us in squad 3 are in it for fun, one or two might be serious, but we'll troll them until they have a good time too.

I strongly resemble that remark...

What do you all use for bags? Just a rear bag or something different?
Most folks use a game changer type and a rear bag, with a bunch having those giant cube ones too.

I tend to borrow whatever someone didn't bolt down for each stage. Cause I'm cheap.

Brandon just bring your stuff and show up and shoot. Bring ammo, rifle and data and can get everything else sorted out there.

And when folks ahead of you on the scoreboard aren't looking, spin their windage knobs... [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23].
(While I have given someone completely wrong dope, I even draw the line at this. Probably. [emoji16] Dialing 8 doesn't work well if you meant 8 mil, and they dial 8 moa.)

Yeah I figured I’d like to shoot one and see what gear I may like to get for future matches. I’ve shot a big PRS match back in Feb with a buddy’s rig and gear, and it was really fun, but the 22 matches my interest and budget lol.

I did swap to squad 3 though, I’ll keep an eye on my knobs however...

At least now I know who not to trust in our squad. ;)

Brandon this is a good lesson of what not to do in matches. I am pretty sure Chris is joking but learn from the joke. When at matches be honest with squad mates as they still have to pull the trigger and make the hits and never ever touch anyone's gear without asking. I have seen people be blackballed from the sport for this years ago. No amount of points are worth your integrity and reputation.

Oh yea, the knobs is joking.
In the 22 matches I've seen a lot more sharing information about dope and wind than in other matches. Just know when sharing dope, it's a starting point, since 22 is every rifle, every ammo is completely different.
Also a lot more of the suggestions on positioning, what works what doesn't etc.

It is going to be HOT this weekend and often there is not much breeze or extra shade down in the bottom stages. Water is provided to the shooters, but not cold water. I usually bring a cooler with ice and some bottled waters and Gatorades. The 22 matches are not catered like the Guardian, so you will also need to bring something for lunch and any snacks you may want/need. For comfort, I also suggest a good hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hand/face towel. I would also suggest bringing a pair of knee pads, as you will be getting down on the ground, in the dirt/clay/mud, in and out of old prop vehicles, shooting off a shingled rooftop and maybe off of railroad ties or boulders or whatever else Paul comes up with. As for bags, you can use your rucksack if you want. And also, we can let you borrow some other bags to try if you need. I usually have an extra rear bag or two on me for freeloaders like hscrugby.

So guys how’d it go? Of course my entire family was sick earlier this week, guess who got sick yesterday and today. Hate I missed it.

Hot.

I did ok till I got all confused on my Dialing.

Went pretty well and a lot of fun but as mentioned hot! Must have drank 25 bottles of water today and was sweating it all out. Sorry you couldn't make it out. Maybe the next one. Definitely wouldn't have been the place to be if you were sick.

It was brutally hot with no wind and insane humidity. I know for a fact that I drank at least 4 Gatorades and 11 bottled waters - and I am still thirsty. But, like every match, you always learn something. Today I learned that if someone accidentally kicks your rifle over onto your scope hard enough, it can (and will) knock your zero off by over 5 MOA.

My wife said it looked like I lost 20 pounds in sweat yesterday. LOL

Yea, feel free to donate that new rifle to people that sucked it up due to equipment. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

With all the dust from rifles on the ground,
I really need to get atv gun mounts for stroller.
I've never seen so much dust in a gun before. I apologise have taken pictures, cleaning rags were red. In the barrel and action etc. That explains why I was having issues on the last few stages with feeding, and probably other folks issues too.

My complete lack of accuracy at the end was from my scope coming loose. If you rush to remount, don't skip the loctite step.
Sigh.
I've never had a zero stage before. So five mils off for a stage, then when I set it back my scope moved. Great way to end the day. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
