Gun was cleaned and lubed 2 months ago. Has sat till this weekend, took 2 snakes and everything worked as it should. Today went out shooting 50ish rounds and almost every other shot it would fail to feed the next round, the round would get half way up the feed ramp and the bolt would just go over the round and crush the case. Did it get dirty that fast causing the issues or is it something else wrong?
Tried 2 different ammo types federal bulk 40gr at 1200fps and win super x 40gr hp at 1280 fps
Unfortunately I didn't get a picture

Marlin model 60. Unsure the age. It was my uncles. He died in 2005.

Clean it again, very very well. Take the stock off and clean the action without removing any parts. Clean the magazine and the magazine tube as well.

...and try Standard Velocity ammo
Do this ^^^^ But take the bolt out and clean it and and the receiver.

this guy has created the definitive series of how-to videos for the Marlin Model 60

mine runs like a top, thanks to the advice

it's a 1985 model, made in North Haven, with the long barrel and long mag tube and last round bolt-hold-open
just a lot of fun to shoot and far more accurate than you'd think, for what was a cheap rifle at the time

I do hope Ruger brings back the 60, including all the things that made it good (even though it might eat into 10/22 sales)

I am beginning to think part of the reason Ruger bought Marlin was to eliminate competition from the model 39a and the model 60. They own three of the four or five best 22 rifles ever produced, and they are making only one of them. I was told by a highly placed Ruger Marlin guy that the 39a will never be produced by Ruger because it is too expensive to make.

I would believe that. The way the two halves of the receiver nest together must require a lot of hand fitting.
It wasn't too many years ago that the 39a was manufactured. Why not do like they are doing with all other Marlins they make... produce it and charge a lot of money?

They will never sell a $1,200 10/22 but they could sell a $1,200 Ruger Marlin 39a.

It's been a busy week, but the guide rod and new spring came in, some cleaning, CLP and 4 flawless rounds fired. Unfortunately didn't have time for anymore.

I had a weird experience with a glenfield model 60 (squirrel stock) several years ago. Never had this happen with 3-4 other 60's I've had.

A buddy had it sitting around for decades because at some point he "cleaned it" and it just wouldn't cycle a round any more after.

Offered to take it home and have a look. Dude is among the best carpenters I know. Can build anything from a mansion to a puzzlebox out of wood. But if it's mechanical... NopešŸ¤”šŸ¤£

He had somehow mashed the bolt into the guide rod and spring so the rod was bent and part of the spring was flat causing it to only cycle 1/2 way... Ordered new.

Tossed them in and went through several tubes of ammo. Flawless. Decided to do a deep clean as the rifle deserved it. Full disassembly used a pick to scrape out every nook and cranny.

Jamo-matic. Misfeed or FTE every other round! Confused the hell out of me. But after fighting through about 200 rounds of different ammo. Dang thing went right back to eating anything once it was dirty again.

As proof several years later as buddy started doing better about maintenance and mechanical things, he deep cleaned it again and it went back to choking. Asked me for advice. Again, a couple hundred rounds in and she went back to being a sewing machinešŸ¤”
