Wife and I are starting to plan our recurring 4-6 month get away, looking at options and seeking suggestions, if we can't decide on a new place, probably will default back to Vegas again but we are planning a extended trip in November back there, so we are looking for somewhere else to check out.

Nashville
Memphis
Dallas
Denver
NYC
Chicago

Not opposed to someplace closer either.
Have all come up in the discussion and are open to other suggestions....go.

Puerto Rico was a great 4 day trip. Stayed at the condado plaza. Plenty of nice places in walking distance. Went to a few of the fortresses via uber for like $4 each way. Took one to the casa bicardi and took a tour. Took a “tour” of waterfalls and got to swim under one. Was a pretty cool trip. ESP if you like takin photos or looking at neat old stuff. And honestly it was cheaper than a weekend at Vegas for us. But in Vegas we did the twilight helicopter tours and dam tour and spent some at casinos and shopping.

What do yall enjoy? Partying like rock stars? Sitting alone in quite and relaxing? Sun bathing with a full cooler? Sky diving naked?

Our last Vegas trip comprised of dinners, drinks and people watching, spent a day at the dam, and day at the Valley of Fire....plus some debauchery.

Pretty much open to anything

I can't stand crowds. I've been to Vegas twice, my first and last time. Been to Seattle, San Fran, Houston, Chicago, and several other big cities. They are all the same, big cities with too many humans. You can have them all! Give me some peace and quiet out in the middle of nowhere. Backpacking in RMNP, Glacier NP, GSMNP or anywhere small town USA in the sticks.

Of the options you listed, I would suggest Denver. Wife and I did a weekend there back in november and had a blast. It’s a beautiful city and in a short drive you can be up in the Rocky’s doing some amazing hiking. It’s the craft brewing capital of the world if you’re into good beer and there are also some.....substances that you can sample if you’re in to it ;).

Another city I would suggest if you haven’t ever been is San Antonio. Tons of things to do, great food and it has more of a small town feel for being one of the largest cities in the country. Several really famous Texas music venues in the area (Gruene Hall and John T. Floores), floating the river is always fun and Austin is just a short drive up 35 if you wanted to check that out too.

If you’re thinking of Dallas, I would recommend spending most of your time in FT Worth. Dallas is fun, but it has more of a trendy, hippy, big city vibe to it, where Ft Worth is has more of a “cowboy” vibe, especially at the Stock yards.

Good deal...one of my favorite places, though I cant hardly afford to go without a group, was Bald Head Island. But its more for the "low key" relaxation vacation. No cars on the island. You take a ferry over. When you get there you have to ride around on golf carts. Because of this its very quiet, lots of wild life around. And no buildings (other than the lighthouse) are above two stories (unless this has changed) so everywhere you go seems like you are just cruising through the woods. The island has restaurants and stores, and a grocery store that I remember being rather decently priced. The beaches are relatively secluded so you don't have 500 families trying to set up their junk all over you.

When in NYC, my wife likes to stay at the Lotte NY Palace, once the Helmsley Palace.
Not too expensive compared to staying at the name brand hotels around the city,
you can a free tour of the hotel and learn some of the history. Very secure, door man 24-7.
Located next to St. Patrick's Cathedral. Be sure to check out the Beretta NY Gallery at 718 Madison Avenue

If you like to rock out with a beverage and watch randos, Beale street is a lot of fun... Not to far to the Ozarks for some outdoor activities...

Nashville. Downtown and Westend. Music, food and people watching. Very close local lakes you can rent a boat on as well. I know some crazt ass folks if you need a chaperone. I don't do country music and love Nashville. There is other music and there as well. PM if you want some ideas and details. Debauchery is my middle name.

LoDo is very fun. Lots of rooftop bars and restaurants. Rockies games are cool. A nice rest from hiking all day.

Beale Street is very cool, but Memphis as a whole is a pit. Pretty sure TN has been trying to sell it to AR amd MS for years. :p

West Memphis is a pit. Memphis proper has a bunch of great restaurants and bars, cool museums and historical stuff and a nice riverfront. Also, a Bass pro shop in a pyramid! It's really not bad and concealed carry is legal there unlike many cities...

Been here many times. Go armed. Heavily. My kind is not welcome there unless it is out by Germantown. Boring out there.

Think that Denver and Nashville are probably the top contenders as of right now.

Charleston, SC or the NRA Convention in Indianapolis.

Sanibel/Captiva Island at the time mentioned. Water is warm, sea shells unreal, wildlife everywhere, slow pace, no brand restaurants, and low numbers of people on the beach. Europeans in speedos is the drawback. Ft. Myers and Naples very close. The islands are absent of local idiots due to the bridge cost to enter the islands.

Dallas is a fun visit if you like upscale and lots of people. Aquarium, zoo, downtown bars and music galore. I went twice on a corporate card so money was not an issue. Old San Franscico Restaurant should be on the agenda.
