The reason being that I pulled out my 30-378 yesterday and did a 3 shot check at 450 yards. First shot I pulled a little to the left (I haven’t shot it in over a year!), second and third hit just where I wanted them. I guess it will do for hunting season. I really love that rifle. LOL!
I’m shooting 210 grain Berger VLD’s (Hunting Style) with a muzzle velocity of 2,964 fps. The reason I shoot at 450 is that I have a stand that covers a field that is approximately 450 yards across. And a lot of deer seem to come out right at that distance and it’s almost impossible to set up any closer without spooking them. For reference in the right hand corner of the orange target the small white center dot measures 1.5 inches in diameter.
There’s just something about those Weatherby Magnums…
