I built a 16" 300 BO maybe year and a half ago and maybe ran 100 rounds through it. Figured I would rather shoot a 223 in 16" so the 300 been in the safe. Now just ordered a 10.5" barrel and thinking about what weight bullet to reload just for playing around with.
I used 1680 powder to reload the rounds that I have done just because that was direction people pointed me to. What powder are you using (I know that it depends on the bullets). And I am not looking for sub-sonic right now.
Also, I order 500 cases when I got the 16" gun and thinking that I might want another 500 cases. Where are you getting your brass from?

I only use my 300blk for subsonic shooting.

Brass I get from these folks.

I have a good supply of quality factory brass I bought at good prices over the years. I use it for my bolt gun loads. I make my brass from used Lake City 556 brass for my AR.

I cast my Boolits with the Lee 230TL molds and use H110 powder. I have a number of other powders for it but haven't bothered to work up loads since what I have works.

An excellent shooting, plinking, and actually pretty good Zombie buster is the Hornady 110 gr Zombie bullet. I use 19/WW 296, in 16 inch guns it gives you 2370 fps average, at 54000 PSI....... In your 10.5 inch gun
the exact same load will give you from 2180 fps to 2220 fps depending on the barrel.......I buy the bullet from Midway 500 to the box...... Decent bullet as well. Not a Extreme Premium like the 100 Raptor or 110 Barnes TAC, but good all around do everything pretty decent bullet.........

No, not as wicked as the 100 Raptors……….. Not as deep penetrating as the 110 Barnes TAC or Raptors…………. But these do very well for “The Money” factor……….. I would not hunt with them, deer or pigs, as I think the better choices for that are the Raptors, but for half rotten Zombies, and other 2 legged thin skinned varmint critters, I think they will do just dandy………..

Same as many here, I get both factory ammo once fired brass and I make mine from LC 5.56, sometimes LC blanks when I can get them for free. I *really* like to pick them up at the range when others don't reload .300blk!

but with a 10.5" barrel anything in the 100-120gr range should plink well for you. As discussed in a thread last week, the 110gr monometal bullets do very well on game from a shorter barrel.

I only do heavy subsonics up to 245gr though I have some 180gr super loads. I use whatever I find cheap. MIssouri bullets for coated lead and usually midway for jacketed stuff.

Brass: Everglades, Rocky, Carolina, however I now realize how simple it is to pick up range brass of your choice and convert.

Bullets: I like cheap supers so it’s 10-14c 147gr fmj, Speer TNT 125gr

Powder: Lil Gun, H110/W296, 1680 seems to be the popular choice for subs.
