I'm rebuilding my 300BLK with a lefty upper, leaving me with a right handed upper and BCG. If you were going to build a spare 556, would you re-use the bolt formerly dedicated to 300BLK or get a new bolt?

Maybe ~1,500 rounds on the bolt.

It's the same bolt, why would you change it?


You're right of course, so maybe the real question is "would you mate a 1,500 round count bolt with a new barrel?"

Why not? That's nothing, round-wise...

If it's a quality BCG use it...
 
I put a very used M16A2 BCG in a new .300 Black
 
I realize people make a huge deal about matching bolts to barrels for NM rifles, but I’ve never seen anyone claim how much improvement that may provide, let alone back it up.

Unless this is for a match rifle, yes, reuse it.
