308..? Why not..?

Yeah that’s a great deal. I’m putting the yo Dave spring on my trigger when it gets here this week. Even though the stock trigger is pretty good itself

Yo Dave? I know not of this..?

Yo Dave? I know not of this..?
CZ shooters have been buying YO Dave springs for as far back as I can remember. It's like a 3-4 pound trigger for $10.
Seems the guy behind it expanded to other makes as well. Maybe that's not new. It's just CZ is the only group of shooters that buy a YO Dave spring as a matter of course.

If you go down that hole be sure to bounce your rifle off the ground a few times to make sure it's safe.

3-4 pound trigger? Damn! What is true factory trigger if that lightens it? Lol
I think my CTR is 4 pounds unmodified or adjusted from the factory.

Factory is adjustable from 2-4# from what I read
And I just realized I typed 3-4 instead of 3/4. :( Getting to be bed time I guess. I'd blame it on libations, but it's really just inattentive negligence I guess.

I don't know yet. I would love to hunt with it but it's not a lightweight... I'm curious how the barrel likes different weight projectiles. I'll grab a brick of brass ball ammo too for plinking and brass collection. I'll get match ammo when I find a decent price. Privi Partisan has affordable match ammo I will likely try too... I'll play for a bit and then work towards reloading...
I picked up some of the Magtech Sniper stuff a while back, but haven't tried it yet. They use the 168 grain Sierra Matchking, kind of a low-cost Federal Gold Medal clone. The bang/buck ratio looks good.

Outdoor Limited normally stocks it, but they are out at the moment.

Tikka or Bergara, might be open to a CZ. I eliminated Ruger, Mossy, and Remington from the running

Just curious since I am thinking about getting a hunting 308 in the next several months, why did you rule out a Ruger?

No guarantee of accuracy, partly. Too many accounts I read about Rugers that wouldn't keep 1moa. I was seriously considering the Ruger American Hunter for the great price point. I have an American Blackout and love it. Wanted something a little higher end for this, and basically done out of the box. The Ruger precision was an option too but it's higher cost than the Bergara BMP and nearly the same as the Tikka made it the easy cut from the herd.

I'm a fan of what Ruger does. I'll likely get more in the future. I'd like a Ranch in 223 and possibly a Predator in 308 that takes AICS mags for hunting... Probably go with the Tikka T3x UL now though unless I don't like this one for some reason.

Looking for a precision rifle for all purpose use. I'm not going to be shooting over 500yds very much and I'm not looking to compete.

I am pretty set on a .308 since it's about as common a round as there is and there's not much you can't kill with it under 1k yards.

Everyone and their brother is talking about 6.5c as though it's the only way to go and 308 is a relic. I say... Meh...

What say ye?

EDIT: if the barrel life I am reading is true, 308 barrels last 3 times as long... That's a big deal to me. A barrel that's only good for 2000-2500 rounds is of no interest to me.
Go hipster. Go 7mm Mauser.

Says it can get trigger down to 12 oz. We will see I don't want it that low. The factory trigger is pretty good but IIRC it only goes down to 2 or 2.5 lbs.

Lol... $9-15 shipping for a tiny spring that they're charging $10 for... What a rip-off... Should ship for a dollar...

I was looking at the UPR. Pretty dope... Wasn't enough saving in cost or weight over the TAC A1 for me though...
The price you got for the TACa1 was insane. I had to quickly close the link to eurooptic before my wallet caught fire.

I ordered from yodave yesterday and hung my head after seeing the shipping.

Mines for my CZ455. I ordered the same kit long ago and sold the rifle afterward but will say it made a huge difference and well worth the $30.

Edited to add: they wanted $15 to ship with tracking. I think it was $9 for the standard I went with.

There is nothing wrong with 308 for most applications, 6.5 is superior in most ways, but 308 with the +.500 better rounds works just fine for most shooters.

Good read on this caliber. That Tikka/Vortex deal is hard to beat. I've been looking hard at a .308 too. Mostly for some form of F/TR style backyard laid-back-hotdog/cold beer style of shooting. I looked at Savage Target Series but I'm not sure if they are worth the cost? I'm looking for a .308 that will shoot 1/2 moa or less with good handloads. Who knows, if I get a "wild-hair" one day I want something I can take to a match and feel a bit confident (or not!). :D

Please let us know how that combo works when you get it set up.

And then there is the .308 Palma! WTH?

Watch the .308 Palma rifle as it has a 13 twist barrel and made to basically just shoot the 155grn bullets as they like to do in palma although you can shoot others.

What type of matches you want to shoot? F/TR? Just watch as the rifles above are single shots. Fine for F/TR but not for other sports.

In his old age the great elephant killer Karamojo Bell was asked what he would take for elephants if he was going back to Africa....his answer??? "I'm interested in that new .308 round. I think it would be a fine elephant killer".
His first killing round was the 6.5 Mannlicher-Schonauer if I remember correctly. Only gave it up due to the ammo storage in the area. Replaced it with a 7mm Mauser/275 Rigby. Both cartridges fit his needs due their ability to penetrate deep into the skull consistently. The 308 may have been up to the task with the right bullet say a 220 grainer but the short magazines would have been a problem as well as finding the ammo. Bell was certainly the exception to the rule, his abilities with a rifle on elephants were unmatched even to this day.
