Any fans here? My new to me H&R Handi Gun II single shot rifle just arrived at my LGS. Can't wait to go pick it up and go shooting.

Did you buy the one off graybeard?

I’ve been shooting one for a year or so now and been using 180gr XTPs with good results.

Yes I did. I'm shopping for a stock set but haven't found the right one to my tastes yet. Care to share any loads? I have 100 new brass plus another 50 he sent with the rifle, 180 gr XTP's, H110 and 2400 powder from back when I had a 44 Mag.

I was kicking myself for missing that one. A few years back I found a factory chambered SB2 Ultra that I’ve been playing with. The factory chambered guns are out there but you have to look for a while.

I’m running 180gr XTPs over H110 but I’d have to look to get the charge. H110 has always worked well for me so it seemed natural to try it in the Max as well.

I would like to play with some rifle bullets at some point.

Yeah I knew I'd better jump all over it or it would go fast. It looks like H110 with 19.0 is a starting load and 21.0 is a max load for the 180 gr from what I've found.
 
4227 works a treat & meters great as well. Talking to some old silhouette shooters, H110/W296 will win the velocity race, while 4227 is the accuracy powder. I get 1500fps with 19.2gr of 4227 & 200gr gas checks out of my 10.5" Ruger. I don't have vast experience with it yet, but it is a very fun & accurate round.

Starline also routinely has brass & pricing's in line with the rest of their straight wall pistol stuff.
 
I also have an H&R 357 magnum. Thought about reaming it but didn't really want to because it shoots so well. I head shot three squirrels in a row off my deer corn pile at 40 yards off shooting sticks. I was excited to find this factory Maxi.

I’ve dreamed of a lever action 357Max but from I understand there are feeding and timing issues due to the case length. Most attempts that I’ve read about didn’t end well.

Me and you both, brother...... I've also considered getting the CVA Scout in .350 Legend. The CVA triggers are awesome.
I've been interested in maximum for a long time but never acted on it. Now, my daughter is hunting/shooting with me and she's a lefty. The performance/recoil ratio and ambidextrous setup of the singles would be perfect for us to play with.

I bet it could be done in 360 Dan Wesson and they can be loaded with 357 mag dies. Starline still makes brass.

Just picked a up an old 4x Leupold M8 from an NCHF member. Pre 1974 by the serial number but it's still bright and clear.

Came to me like this but I added the sling. It’s got a Redfield 2-7x33 on top.

It’s hard to find and SB2 with iron sights. I was really happy to find this one.

Looks good!! Any loads you can share? I have 180 gr XTPs and 180 gr SSPs. Taken any deer with it?

A gifted rear sight arrived today and has been installed. May never use the irons but I like having the option.

I haven't taken game with it yet. I was hoping to this year but life got in the way so I wasn't in the woods nearly enough. I've played with a couple of different charges but nothing I would call a favorite at this point. I thought about trying some rifle bullets but we'll see.

I always like having irons as an option even though I may never use them. It just seems like they should be there and the scope be the option, no the other way around.
