My brother and I did some trading and I ended up with a RipRap Prusa printer.

So far I have printed out somethings for a few of my buddies I play battlefield 4 and Arma III. Also printed out a spool holder since the jury rigged mess of a prop balancer didn't work out well.

Here are the tags-

I have been throwing around the idea of making some of the above for members here.

And the spool stand. I didn't get a picture of the center portion and may once I am done with the current print job.

Currently making a Yeti cup holder for the wife.

I have fallen behind on the 3D times. Might need to buy one.

Very impressive.

You play any MWR on Xbox one?

Very cool!

I'd be interested in seeing what else you come up with!

And I'll tell -she'll love the handle. Gone one for my OT 30oz and it made me like the tumbler even more!

Thanks man. I haven't played console in over a year. After going to PC it's not easy going back.

Nice!

I bet we're all wondering so I'm just going to ask: 3D print any guns yet?

Thanks man. But no I haven't and probably won't anytime soon.

Thanks man. She is excited. It did use the last of the PLA it came with so if she wants any adjustments made she is SOL lol.

Following this thread. 3D printing would be useful for the small business I'm working to take over from my parents. I need to learn more.

What are y'all using for software to create the files to print

thecarman if you know how to run a 3d modeling program like AutoCad, Blender, OpenScad, etc you will be set,

savagemic They are good to have around to tinker with. You can get them cheap but from what I am experiencing the cheaper they are the more work you have to put into them to get up and running lol. Or so it seems.

Les Right now, I am trying to learn Blender. I am also going to try TInkerCAD. OpenSCAD seemed a little retro and didn't like the feel of it. But there are a lot of programs out there.

Thanks, I bought a Cube to play with

Awesome man.

I am waiting on filament to come in which hopefully will be tomorrow. THen I have some more coming in next week. So I will running this thing a lot more. Already found plenty of things to print.

definitely tagged!!

what type of files does it print? Do they have to be .stl files??
I am familiar with Solid works... and Mastercam...both are machining type programs. You can do just about any type of 3D modeling in Solidworks. I wished I knew more about 3d printers.....

I'm on XB1....getting my butt kicked in Battlefield 1

Thanks man. Someone with more experience may be able to tell you better, but so far only thing that has been through mine are .STL files so I am going to venture to say that they only properly print from .stl files. You may be able to fiddle with the arduino coding and what ever GUI base program and maybe you would be able to print using some other file. But most 3D modeling software should be able to save the file in a .stl but not 100% if so. I am just now messing with TinkerCAD and they save in .stl lol.

Filament guide cause I needed one. Plus the one I made on TINKERCAD was too small and didn't feel like messing with it more.

It finished for the most part and only had a few more layers before it was completely finished but came off the bed. Since then I have fixed the lifting issue

Something I am currently working on. I am printing a sliding lock to add to my chicken's coop.

Main body is done.

Will update once the slider, receiver and handle are done

STL file is the actual exported model file.

How it work is CAD--->Slicer program--->G-Code (or whatever the code the machine uses as they do differ)---> Print.

Looks good, if you would like help let me know. I assume you are printing using PLA?

Thank man. I am starting to learn 3d modeling some with TinkerCAD and fiddled some with Blender and it feels like I did when I was learning davinci resolve lol.

Yes I am using PLA, this machine sucks with ABS no matter what I do.

For ABS you need a enclosure for it work correctly. It's all I use, ABS, since I made one off customer items for people/companies and my own personal items.

I just wonder if it would be practical to make rail mounted barricade stops and extra round holders.

Here is one I did last year. The Teeth are a royal PITA, printed on ABS.

So after a while, I finally broke it back out and actually leveled everything. Only a couple quirks going on but everything is turning out better than they have.

Started making some socket holders. Got the 1/4" drive done. Started on the 3/8 but my heater cam out of the extruder.

1/4"

3/8"

I was almost done with the 3/8" when it went full ratard.

Pretty cool!

There are so many small items I would love to 3D print and with prices coming down to the $200 range combined with the variety of materials available, I'm sure I'll grab one in the next year. I also enjoy the design part since I used to do a lot of CAD in HS.

Edit: Monoprice Maker Select v2 8x8x7 printer for $317 on Amazon and print quality looks really good. I'm thinking I'll be buying a 3D printer before I make another gun or other hobby purchase.

I traded a Ruger for the one I have. It was older and pretty fair across the board on the trade. I found out the more money put into one the easy they are to use lol.

Its a Prusa MK 1 or 2. With a heated bed.

I made a camera mount for my Runcam HD so I can use it on my Skyhunter instead of a GoPro.

Turned out pretty good but now just needs to be cleaned up

Can you do keyholes for mounting the brackets to the wall and shelves to the brackets?

keyhole.jpg cutwscrrew300.jpg I use a router. Curious as to if it's possible to create this with 3D printing as it's a simple way to 'blind' hang things. There are also keyhole plates that can be let in but not as simple. 933575.jpg
