I have an itch to pick up a .44Mag long gun. Leaning real hard towards the Henry Big Boy simply because I like the brass frame and octagonal barrel.

So, the question is 16" Carbine or 20" rifle? Anyone have first hand experience with these care to weigh in?

Primary usage will be fondling, wondering why I bought it, trying not to scratch it and maybe going to the range. Maybe could conceivably hunt with it after adding Skinner sights.

I have a 16 inch winny 94 in 44. Its basically a 100yd gun but its handy to carry in the deer woods

Bought the Henry .357 20" Brass frame for the same reasons you listed, on impulse.
After carrying and shooting it, I wished I had chosen the shorter length.
But, I still love it!

Can't comment on the Henry 16" but I really like my 20" Marlin 1894S in .41 Mag. Been shooting, carrying and hunting with it for 30 yrs.

I've got a 16" 357 and a 20" 44. Both handle like a dream and shoot well. If I had to do it again, I think I'd look for a 20" 357. I doubt there's any performance to be gained in 4 inches of barrel, but I like the slightly longer sight radius and how the gun balances with the extra length.

A Winchester Model 94 in 44 Mag is the only PCC I own. A longer barrel won't let you reach out farther but it will make the gun handle like a rifle and still shoot a pistol cartridge. that's a lose-lose-lose.

I have a Rossi 16" 44 Mag. Bought it because I like the looks of the gun. Shoots great, easy to carry but if you are not going to hunt with ones in the heavy woods, I would go with the 20". I have a 20 " in 357 and if I had to pick one to shoot at the range it would be the 20".

'94 Winchester SS 16.5" with the ghost sights. (I'd be too distracted carrying a Henry fearing I'd mar it.)
