I have a 60" Vizio E-series from back in 2013 or so, E601i-a3 razor ($600 or so back then). Considering an upgrade to one of the budget friendly 4k TVs out there.

Any recommendations on a TV, and should I sell the current one or repurpose it? What do you think it's worth?

I have one inexpensive 4k TV but it isn't connected to any UHD content. The one thing experts seems to agree on is that HDR (High Dynamic Range) is more important to the viewing experience than any other feature.

I went 4k a couple of years ago but I really can't tell that much of a difference in the picture. Maybe it's my old eyes or the fact that there aren't that many signals that broadcast in 4K. I even got a 4K blue ray player and to date I have bought a total of one 4K blue rays.

Having a backup or guest room/war room/man cave TV is always good too.

We have a tcl 55" Roku 4k tv that we decided to try almost 2 years ago now after seeing it in Walmart for around $400. Think we payed $428 otd. The picture is amazing and the Roku part being built in is nice since we don't jse cable anyways
My one 4K is also a TCL with Roku. So far, no complaints at all.

It's really hard to beat for the price. I like that the Netflix app has a category for everything they have in 4k as well, my firestick didn't do that.
I can tell a difference watching something in 4k, it's not a huge improvement but it is a little better.

I have an LG 55" 4K Smart TV I bought at WalMart when it was mispriced at $499. The HDR isn't that much of a difference, but it does look better than standard 4K.

I bought this one when Target was having a big TV sale late last year. Without 4K content, I don't see such a big difference. Might be because of watching it thru steam from the shower? :D

I don’t find that 4K matters much at my viewing distance, but I understand that if you sit closer to the TV that it makes a big difference. Ever notice that in the store you’re comparing TV’s from 2 or 3 feet, but does anyone sit that close at home?

The difference I can see from a mile away is 120Hz vs 60Hz.

We bought a 55" Vizio E series around Christmas that is UHD/4k. It has the built in vizio smart tv apps with built in Chromecast. We've been very happy with it.

Another vote for the TCL Roku TV

Most impressive thing I've watched on our 70" 4K is my buddy's vacation video from Hawaii. Most from his drone that shoots in 4K. It was unreal, like the demo stuff you see in the store. Not super impressed with 4K BluRays at this point.
