50th anniversary of the Pueblo capture

I have never understood why we have never executed a "one & done" and blown it up rather than let it sit there as a reminder of one our epic fails.

Resurrecting this one as I missed it the first time.

Never heard of this shop before, but it was mentioned in a David Baldacci book I’m reading. Several facts were included, and they actually seem to be accurate.

Found the whole thing very surreal. Second oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy (behind the USS Constitution). Won’t be decommissioned while be held. Currently the only ship on the commissioned roster held captive.

Sounds like when it all went down, one man killed and the rest were let go a year or so later. International maritime law says 12 miles out is the limit, but Korea defines it’s border as 50 miles out. Very interesting piece of history I knew absolutely nothing about

...and yeah, not sure why we haven’t just destroyed it. Maybe Trump will get it released on his next visit. :D

Side note: book also mentioned the Ryugyong Hotel, which is another very interesting bit of history. Currently the largest unoccupied building in the world?
