I'm slowly getting back to where I used to be. Today I went twice as far as I've been all year.
I'm trying to get in shape for an Elk hunt in Colorado. I'll know in the first couple of weeks of June if I get selected for a tag.
I'm going with my son and his buddies. They get tags every year. I hope me being out of state doesn't mess it up this year. We will be hiking in at 10k feet elevation. I'm going to need to be in shape, especially if I have to pack out any meat!
 
The elk hunt sounds like a blast. Biking and rucking is a great combo. If you are looking for an efficient way to get stronger quickly, Mark Rippetoe has some effective barbell programs for folks of all ages. He has given me a few paradigm shifts as far as lifting and strength goes.
 
mtntactical.com also has very targeted work outs, some specific to hunting.

I have a handful of their work out plans (bodyweight, barbell, weight vest/PC and sandbag). If you are interested in these PM me.
