6.5 Grendel

Saw one in a Ruger American Predator today and was intrigued. Looks like it would make a fine low recoil deer slayer.

Doesn't that come in a .308 length action?
Take a look at the Howa or Tikka mini action.

I always thought a mini Howa would make as cool build. But, for me, the real draw to the 6.5G is adaptability to the AR platform.

A few years ago I picked up a mini action in 6.5 G from a member here, and it does make a nice little light weight low recoil deer slayer. The round is a lot more fun an an AR, though .

I have 2 Grendel ARs . A 12" pistol and a 16" rifle.

I also have the Howa with the 20" heavy barrel.

I’ve been seeing it in good supply at Academy in Greensboro. Or I was lucky and got there right after they put it on the shelf. Trying to remember when I was there. Want to say about 2 weeks ago.

Good to see that it's our there. Can't bring myself to pay 70 - 80¢ for steel cased when I'm still sitting on a case that was 23cpr shipped.

The Hornady SST and Black is only 50% more than it used to be so I think that's probably about where it's going to stay.

The others I don't have any experience with. I'll have to see if I can find any Fed Fusion

I have Aero build using a TBox 20 inch match barrel and jp bolt. It is an absolute tack driver with either Wolf military classic 100 gr or Hornady black 123 gr. Have no doubt it would be a deer slayer extraordinaire.

Federal Fusion is great ammo, but prices are ridiculous. Try some of the Prvy Partizan 120 gr. hollow points, these things are death on deer.
