610 is back!

I do need a serious round for my sabbatical trip out West next year... 10mm is in the running.

10mm is a terrible revolver cartridge, in my humble opinion. No need to go short in a revolver, so 44 mag if you like, or 41 mag, or 357 mag, I think any can have more punch than 10mm.

Why?
Seriously, I never understood 10mm revolvers. The whole point of the cartridge was magnum power in a semi-automatic platform. It is capable of producing energy levels at and above 357 mag. So why stick that back into a revolver?

I love revolvers and love 10mm. But the two together just don't make much sense to me.

Guys, help me out here...

Iā€™ve only owned one pistol caliber revolver and it went back before I could shoot it. So, no experience with one. It just seems to me that moon clips are an incredible inconvenience. No?

I wouldnā€™t think they were more of an inconvenience than having to use a magazine in a semi.

It really depends on what the firearm is used for. For a game gun, they are essential. For a woods walking gun, they are a liability.

Except the action of a semi unloads the magazine.

And the action of unloading a revolver ejects the moon clip, which will still have to be reloaded to be used again, just like a magazine. In short, moon clips are magazines for revolvers.

The main ā€œnegativeā€ of a moon clip is that it removes one of the benefits of a revolver, which is not needing any additional loading accessories.

First....I LOVE my S&W 625 (.45 ACP, moonclips). It's one my favorite range guns by far.

But I think it's a pretty fair statement to say that a semi-auto magazine is more manageable than a moonclip. Moon clips are much more bulky, more difficult to insert (unless you spend $$$ on mods) and more prone to failure when compared to a magazine.
