Afternoon gents,

I would like some input on optic selection for a build I am in the middle of. It's a 18" 6mm arc that will be shot from the bench 80% of the time. I may do some hog or coyote hunts at some point but nothing is planned.

I'm a Vortex guy. I have over 10 of them.. But, I'm struggling to find something that fits this build without being $2000. I'd rather stay under $700 if possible.

Arken has their SH4 4-16x50 with the mount for $273 right now.. Which seems like a screaming deal. However, I have zero experience with Arken. Can anyone give their thoughts? Or perhaps point me in a different / better direction?

I have to say.. The Bushnell looks better in every picture you posted.

My only thought is.. I will hardly ever take a shot out past 500 yrds or so. I have access to 1000yrd but I never get down that way.
 
If you wanted vortex then look at the Strike Eagle 3-18. Should do what you need and under your price range. I have an Arken SH4 6-24 and glass is not that great.

Do you have the Gen 2 sh4?

I have the Gen 1 SE 3-18x44 on my mk12 mod 0 and it is pretty nice. I bet the Gen 2 is even nicer.
 
Yeah the Gen 2 SH4. Not really impressed.

That SE I linked above is brand new. Can find them for well under $700 and cheaper if LE/Mil/FR. The Bushnell Match Pro ED is a nice optic too if you wanted that much power. I have one on a rifle also.

Do it - it’s really impressive and fun for a gas gun. I’m using the 18” steel Proof barrel. This was my first 5-shot group with it immediately after sight in & using a spare PA 1-8. And I’m a very mediocre shot.

I’d be happy with that. I was thinking a 22” in case I wanted to shoot it in a match.
 
Arken has the SH4J out now with Japanese glass.

I'm happy with my Arken scopes, but I don't want to spend $800-$1k . I like the EP5 5-25x56 the best. I have a 4-16x50 SH4 gen 2 on a Grendel .
