I'm thinking about building a x39 pistol, and would appreciate advice from those that have done it before. Thinking about a 10.5" barrel, and will likely SBR it in the future. What parts have you had the best performance from?

I've got 2 AR builds in 7.62x39 that run great. One for brass reloads, and one for steel cased commie ammo. My interest in a x39 pistol is based on my stash of ammo. Really don't want to gear up for another caliber.

Curious about pistol length gas system on a x39. The x39 uses a fairly gassy powder, so gas port may want to be smaller than standard, or adjustable.

Are either of your other x39 builds used much? I know I busted a bolt around 3k rds, and it's a very common issue.
I fought feed issues also, particularly with HP ammo and non M4 ramps.

Any interest in a 7"?

Both my builds use mid length gas systems, and both also use ARP Superbolts. Both are the same except for barrels. My blaster uses a PSA nitride barrel, and my hunting rifle uses an ARP melonite barrel. Both have M4 ramps. On both builds I lapped the uppers faces to reduce side loads on the bolts. I was surprised to see how much metal comes out of brand name uppers before they are trued.

The blaster is shot a lot, and it's pretty accurate. The hunting rifle is used for hunting and casual target shooting. While its not shot a bunch or used for mag dumps, I have done a couple just to check function. HP and SP ammo gives me no trouble in either. When I built my first x39 AR (the ARP), I had a few FTF's. I contacted Harrison Beene, the owner of ARP, and he told me to get the new C Products Defense mags that were totally redesigned. I ordered two 20 rounders, and to my surprise, they were curved like AK mags. Since buying those mags my rifles have worked flawlessly. The same mags also work great in my 6.8 SPC build.

I have 2 and my dad has 3 x39 rifles with carbine gas systems and have never had a problem with bolts, magazines , primers not igniting, or anything else on them and mine has about 2k rounds through it.
And my x39 AR is more accurate than an AK. There. I opened that door lol. Have fun with that

My blaster build will shoot 1.5" groups with Wolf 125 gr SP, and slightly less than 1" with my handloads. The ARP barreled rifle will shoot 1" groups with Wolf SP, and my best group with handloads is .625".

PSA has a x39 carbine gassed upper on sale for $149 shipped right now, and I'm seriously thinking about getting one. I've never owned a carbine gassed x39, and your experience has eased my mind about trying one.

There's 5 or 6 of them between Dad and I. All are carbine gassed. Never a problem with any of them

Have a carbine length x39 too. Only about 6-700 rounds but no issues. Cheap build from midways stuff. Run their branded mags too. Running Tul and wolf.

I have owned 3 AR 39s. All of my problems were directly related to the magazines. About as close to 100% I could get was loading no more than 12 rounds in a regular AR magazine. And THAT is what I know.
