I just got an email from an e-tailer and they are selling Glock 80% lowers, a jig and all of the milling bits needed to complete the project, for $150 bucks.

I don't see myself picking one up but figured I would share this since I know we have more than a few folks that have done 80% ARs.

Midway has them for the price too. They were on sale last week for quite a bit less. Not interested in building one myself but I did notice it.

What exactly needs to be done to an 80% frame to make it 100%? (ie, what's the work on the other end once it arrives at your door)

Might just be worth playing with. Thanks for the link

Thanks, smartass... lol
If you leave yourself open around here, someone will take the shot! And yes, I know, I'm a smartazz too!

As I tell my wife... you put the ball on the tee and handed me the bat, don't act surprised when I swing at it.

I'm holding out for the Glock 19 80% lower which is supposed to come out Jan. 2017. I wouldn't mind a Glock 17, but I already own tons of Glock 19 parts.

Wow, a "super tactical 1911 grip" and plastic slide rails? Sign me up... not...

If you have $150 to waste on a project I guess it could be interesting to make. Of course then you have to buy all the internals and a complete slide and barrel...

Don't see it... A new 17 is only $500. How much can you save while you build this inferior product?

I wasn't a fan of the grip but it does have metal rails. Glock would make a young lady at my house very happy if they came out with a Tiffany blue G19. I have considered cerakote but I don't think it would last long-term.

Read a little closer. The front locking block/ slide rails are one piece and metal, the rear slide rails have to be cut, by you, from the polymer. They are plastic... No thanks...

Why?
Spend a lot to save a little. Make an inferior pistol? No thanks. It's far too easy to buy a used one.

Not for me either, but I understand wanting to have a totally off the radar handgun.

There's still a record of its existence... Unless you pay cash locally... The NSA has your email confirmation of the purchase and your credit card info...

Exactly what I was getting at...

I can't understand the fetish about a gun that "nobody knows about". Sounds like the kind of gun you need if you plan to turn them in Australia style.

That's my thoughts as well. If it comes to that, it won't matter to me. I'll be dead already from the gunfight with the authorities when they come for the ones they know about...

On the G19 frame it says:

-Stainless Steel Locking Block Rail System
-Stainless Steel Drop-In Rear Rail Module

Sounds like it's got real rails.

Pretty sure Brownells has a 19 sized 80% was on SlickGuns a couple weeks ago.

Hadn't seen that. We were discussing the 17, not the 19 that's not out yet. Guess they figured out what a bad idea plastic rails are for the upcoming 19. Still not interested...

It's fun to build stuff.
It's fun to crank off the libs.
What other reason do you need? :)
That's the only decent reason I've heard for this stuff...

Right there with ya! They'll get me or I'll get them. If they get me, you can bet your sweet ass I'm taking quite a few of them bastards with me.
