This will be going on a tikka 6.5 CM got $800 to spend. I want a Christmas tree type reticle in mil , ffp and zero stop on turrets. What’s out there? I like the features and price of the Arken optics ffp scope but it’s a new company and that scares me.

There is or was a nightforce 8x32 benchrest model in bst for not much more iirc. You never know......

Optics plantet had a sale recently..... A vortex gen2 pst 5x25 ffp was in or close to your price range after the 13% discount code.

Recently.....ive seen some good sales on leupold vx3 and mark4.

Be patient and wait for a good sale.

You’re a Firefighter right? You should be eligible to make an account on Experticity. Vortex and a bunch of other brands are on there and pricing is pretty decent. Here’s a screen shot at what some of the Vortex scopes look like.

Athlon Ares BTR is tough to beat in that price range. FFP MIL or MOA Christmas tree reticle, zero-stop turrets (the new gen 2 may have locking turrets, can’t remember).

I have the gen 1 2.5-15 on my Tikka T3 Tactical 223 and trying to decide between the 4.5-27 or a Meopta Optika6 for my CTR 6.5. The only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger on the Meopta is because the windage is exposed with no zero stop. May decide on the 3-18 instead since it has capped windage.

So many great choices in optics these days.

Like Tim said upthread... call @gr8fuldoug.

It would be our pleasure to discuss options with you. Bushnell? Athlon?
I've heard that the Athelon's don't track well if you're dialing windage and elevation. I'm not set on a specific brand as much as I would like it in MIL, Zero stop turrets, A christmas tree reticle and FFP for sure. I really like the burris XTR II with the horus reticle but its much more expensive than the SCR reticle. So I've been leaning toward the PST Gen II. I'm open to suggestions as this is my first ever long range optic.

The Ares and Cronus are supposed to track much better than the lower Athlon product lines. I know Rex Reciews has a video on tracking of either the Ares BTR or ETR and it passed with flying colors.

I would be interested in seeing the bad tracking reviews if anyone comes across them. I have an Ares BTR gen 1.5 waiting for my bolt gun.

Does that work for veterans also

Burris likely has to pay Horus a royalty on each unit sold. Great reticle though.
Yeah thats what I figured.

How about a
Bushnell Elite Tactical HDMR II 3.5-21x50 - H59 for $899.99

Never looked at them. Let me do a bit of research on it thanks!

FFP, MILS, Xmas tree reticle and Zero stop for $800? Let us know what you find/decide on. I have spendy scopes and I have cheap scopes and the most surprising scope I own is a Vortex Diamond Back FFP, MOA, with Xmas tree for $350, 6-24X50 I think. I put it on a rebarrel 700 in 308 and got hits with it out to 800yds using the Xmas tree.

Nikon Black FX1000. since they've announced they're exiting the rifle optics world, these things have dropped in price. I see you have chosen a Vortex at a good price as I type this.
My friend has 2 of them and to my old eyes, they're as clear as a Vortex PST with better tracking. For about half your budget! Nikon will stand by their product likely forever as they aren't going away.

He's had Arken optics, a Vortex HST, Steiner GS3 and others, but this one is better for less $$.

Several more types available also:

@KitShickers you wanna chime in and spew the gospel?

He just put 2 (2 different mag levels IIRC) on a Tikka Lite 6.5CM and a .300WM Rem700

I’ve had the $2500 scopes. Don’t think I’ll be doing it again. Just not enough extra to justify the cost difference for a device made to point at something and shoot it. For observation glass...yeah I’ll spend that.
