I have been looking for another Beretta 92 pistol for a while now. Ran across this one today. Decocker, DA/SA in 9mm. It has nice wood grips in the thin Vertec style which fit my hand nicely. I really like the front fiber optic front sight. It has a serrated rear sight and skeleton hammer. Very nice trigger in either mode. Unlike previous 92s it has a frame mounted decocker which you sweep up to de cock the hammer. Overall a handsome pistol and I am exicted to take it for a spin and range report.

Sorely tempting... the frame mounted decocker is just *perfect*

It’s a fine looking pistol and I’m sure beretta will sell many of them in light of the disdain for slide mounted levers. Personally I don’t care for the vertec grip and much prefer the original 92 curved back strap. The straight back strap fails to secure my grip in the highest position and creates a more acute downward angle for the trigger finger to reach the trigger. The vertec is a compromise to decrease grip circumference at the expense of ergonomics. Regardless the GTS is an aesthetically pleasing and cool pistol that I personally have no interest in purchasing.

I'm just the opposite on the grip. I much prefer the Vertec grip. I have M sized hands and I never was able to feel comfortable with the original grip. I owned a M9A3 previously and had no problem with the slide mounted decocker ( I installed a G conversion kit). But I am sure I can learn to use the upward stroke to decock.

Good looking gun. It & the m9a4 centurion have been the only others that have tempted me from the 92 family. I learned yesterday that Wilson stopped selling the Brig Tac & the Centurion Tac back in Feb. Glad to own them both, fantastic pieces. Wish I had been able to get the Compact back when they made it.

When I left home yesterday I had in my mind a M9A3 if I could find one. No luck. I did find a couple of M9A4s but liked the GTS better ( better trigger in my opinion ).

Haven't seen one like this yet, didn't even know the frame decocker was an option. Gorgeous pistol though!

A that's a clone of a Taurus that was a clone of a Beretta.
I'm not sure if clone is the right word. Going off (possible faulty) memory Beretta sold a factory in Brasil to Taurus. The Taurus is a modified model 92 made on Beretta tooling, assembled by non-Beretta people using non-Beretta material sourcing.

Well looks like time to go shopping again. I would like to here your feelings about it when you get back from the range.👍

I'm probably in the minority, but I still prefer slide-mounted controls over the frame safety Berettas.
I have smaller hands and prefer the frame mounted simply because I can operate it better. But if you have no issues with reaching the controls then the slide mounted is up and out of the way.

I learned to hate them in a class that had us doing immediate action drills with dummy rounds loaded in our mags. They introduced a timer and made it a competition in the class. That gets you really fumbling with the whole tap, rack,(safe), dead trigger, (what? Oh crap!) Click, bang.
Experience made me sell that 92 and get a decock only model.

Not tracking on the way you are explaining the tap, rack, ready drill. After you preformed the drill, they had immediately putting it on safe?

In the process of racking under pressure the safety would get activated without being noticed.

Ah they were teaching the overhand grip method for release, no?

I rack F slides with my left hand fingers in a "claw" shape with my thumb pointing towards me so my fingers go under the right-side lever to prevent activation and the thumb can't hit the left-side lever.

These days, it's just easier to buy a G conversion kit or a Wilson Lo-Pro Single-Side 92 Safety Lever.

The G conversion is the way to go!

I agree, I had a M9A3 ( wish I still had it ) and the G conversion was the first thing I did to it. I found a good video on how to install it and took about 30 minutes.

If you can’t shake the itch and find yourself in the western half of the state reach out. I have one in black I bought used from the forum on an impulse and haven’t ever shot it. If I shoot it, I might change my mind.

I'm right there with you on the grip shape. I much prefer the original 92 grip. However, the new guns are really interesting and have a lot of features I want. Unfortunately, they also include the VERTEC grip. As such, I'm "forced" to spend way too much on LOK Grips to correct the error.

I did check the trigger pull with my Lyman gauge. In double action (hammer de-cocked to half position) I got 7 lbs. In SA mode I got 4 lbs. Really nice feel, especially in DA mode.
