9mm SD recipe

Looking for a good 9mm self defense recipe to load with what I have on hand.

Projectiles - 124/115gr FMJ-HP
Powders - Pistol Power, Titegroup, CFE Pistol
Primers - CCI SPP

I use 5.5 grs of CFE pistol with 124 gr bullets.

4 gr of Titegroup, COAL of 1.118 getting 1020fps from a 4" barrel.
Work up from 3.8 with TG to be safe. Plunk test your cartridges.

Wait, you have SPP's?



There are a lot of good general recipes out there. But, I would google the specific bullet you have to load to find others experiences and recommendations with that bullet, concerning seating depth and velocities, pressure signs, etc. Even then I would start a little low, because your pressure may vary.

I am loading 124 HST projectiles using cci sp primers in once fired nickel brass from a police range using 4.2 grains of shooters world cleanshot powder

Yessir. I've got 3. Lee, Lyman and Hornady. I've tried a few different combinations. I was just wondering what other folks use.

I like 4.6 gn Unique under a 124gn coated LRN. ill use them for SD if I have to because I know I can put them where they are needed.

147 gr. HST under 6.9 gr. 3N38. It'll put some hair on your chest .
