A few years back I purchased a 9mm upper from either a CFF or CSC member and I have misplaced my purchase info. I'm in the process of gathering parts to complete it and would like to know the manufacturer of the upper so I can research the parts needed to complete it.

The package included several 9mm Colt style 32 round mags.

Here is the logo that is on the right side of the upper just above where the forward assist terminates:

It's a 7.5" barrel and has an SLR forearm on it.

If anybody recognizes the logo, or has other good info/advice to share I would appreciate it.

Thx.

Scott

Who made the barrel?
Is it a slick side?
Has shell deflector?
T marked upper?

Threads .5x28 or .5x36?
All are clues.

Good questions for a Slacker.... (grin).

Dunno offhand. I’ll post more pix later.

Here are some more pix. Apparently both the receiver and the shroud is an SLR. When I checked their site the other day I somehow missed the fact that they sold receivers too. Just an fyi but the barrel is threaded 1/2"-28 for a suppressor.

It has a nice feel to it and hopefully will make a great 9mm PCC.

Can anybody advise what AR-15 parts will work in the 9mm, versus which parts have to be specifically made for 9mm?

Thanks much.

Scott

Forge mark....

the one with the keystone is.....Keystone Forge. I forget what Cerro is.

Bottom line - they're pretty much all the same until they get to the CNC machine.

Mine is all the same except for the buffer. ETA: and BCG...duh!

100% sure it’s 1/2-28 and not 1/2-36? Lots of companies do the 1/2-36 so somebody doesn’t accidently thread a 5.56 silencer onto a 9mm AR.

Thx for the insight! Mine is definitely 1/2-28. One nice thing about this is that my PPQ is also 1/2-28 so I can share a suppressor between them.

What about the bolt carrier group? Wouldn't that be different from the AR-15 in addition to the buffer?

Otherwise are all of the trigger parts the same?

Yes, the bcgs are different and also must match the mag style used in the lower. Ie, a glock mag lower must have a bcg milled to run glock mags. Same for Colt mag lowers. There are bcgs that are milled to run both.
Trigger parts are the same.

Yes. That’s what I meant. Doh! Although buffer is also different.

(And don’t forget not to use the silencer without either a fixed buffer spacer or a fixed mount on the PCC)

Re fixed mount for pcc is this due to overall barrel length? If I use a brace does that negate the need for fixed mount?

Thx for the insight. I acquired several Colt mags with the upper so that's what I'll go with.

No to both. With a fixed barrel you don’t need the Nielsen device (spring) in the silencer. Using it on a fixed barrel risks damaging the threads and/or baffle strikes.

I prefer using an FBS unless you’re dedicating a can 100% to the PCC. Otherwise the inside of the blast chamber gets caked up and it’s a lot of effort to clean in order for the piston to fit again (depending on silencer being used).

Got it - thx. So no swapping suppressors between the PPQ and 9mm AR. Looks like a good time for some Form 1’s!

You can swap...just need a (fairly inexpensive in most cases) FBS.

What silencer do you use?

(A 9mm AR can is a great option since you just go direct thread without a booster)

Right now the only 9mm suppressor that I have is the AWC on my MP5. I have a TBAC 30BA, but that’s overkill for a pistol. Also have a .22 takedown, and a couple due out of jail in the next couple of months.

I recently acquired some titanium tubing with the intent of building some Form 1 suppressors. My lathe has pretty tight tolerances, and the milling machine is ok.
