Have any of the concealed carry instructors in this forum submitted their own course for approval? I have been teaching the model course for over a decade and I am really getting tired of ordering handbooks. I would love to be able to print my own course materials as needed. If anyone here is teaching their own course, I would love to know how it is working out for you.

As I was just about to send in my paperwork... From the most recent NCJA course:

The current course requirements are
* Minimum of 8 hours plus range qualification
* Legal block of instruction is a minimum of two hours
* MUST cover both semiautomatic pistol and revolver
* Range qualification is a minimum of
-- 10 rounds @ 3 yards
-- 10 rounds @ 5 yards
-- 10 rounds @ 7 yards
* Must use the same standard 20 question written test

Responsibility of the instructor: For every successful student the firearms instructor must sign a certificate "... which shall verify that the applicant is COMPETENT with a handgun and KNOWLEDGEABLE about the laws governing carrying of a concealed handgun and the use of deadly force."

Your are not required to give out handbooks. You can take your handbooks back at the end of the day. Alternatively, you can "recreate" the same course handbook without paying NCJA to ship paper to your house.

I wasn’t questioning the requirements, and I know I’m not required to give them out, but I would like the ability to print my own manuals as necessary, as well as provide the option for a digital copy. So if any CCH instructors on this forum have submitted their own course, I would really like to know how that worked out for you.

Related questions for @DownRangeNC and other instructors:

* What firm do you use for instructor insurance?
* Can you share your liability waiver form?

Tanks in advance

Have you ever failed anyone in a concealed carry class? The class I went to was the biggest joke I have ever seen, 3 people never shot a gun, 2 rented 45s I loaded one for the guy he was shaking so bad he could not load the magazine, the instructor had all the certificates all ready printed just handed them out.
