Appreciate your reply. Thus far you are the only responder that mentions no use for handguns but protection. Do you not own or shoot any for recreation?

Any quality made single action 22 will teach you much about trigger control in combination with muzzle control, cheaply
IK, I agree whole heartedly. I guess I wasn't clear on my posting. What I was hoping for, was guns nutty handgunners like me would just like to own. I expect them to be shot of course but just from a having aspect. Jeff Cooper , of all people said once..nobody NEEDED more than one 1911. But NEED seldom has anything to do with hard core handgunner wants.

No surprise HERE!

Never ever worry about a man with one gun...he probably doesn't have any money for ammo to practice with either....Clint

Sed contra: worry about a man with one gun; he's probably spent the rest of his money on ammunition and training. ;)

I like my Glocks. They're an awesome machine.
But I like to point out that the Glock is not the most reliable handgun ever made. That honor goes to the S&W Model 10.
Billy touched on it with his pick #4, but imo you cannot be a hardcore handgunner without one of these in the repertoire.
They just don't get the love, but like Ford's F150, they're everywhere...and nobody ever stops to consider why.
I know I'm always harping about the M10 and I admit that I'm a tad biased. But I defy anyone to tell me why I'm wrong. :p

I am certain this CAN be true. I have never seen it in all my 70 years. Still, it's a great old saying......would like to meet one.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that there is a person on this forum that will ever find themselves in a situation that a Model 10 would not be appropriate. I am, of course talking about HANDGUNS. Clint Smith said..a man that can draw a model 10 and put A round on a paper plate 10 straight times at 10 yards in under 2 seconds, is a good man to know.
Our "contest" for the money in October will be revolver neutral.
My sincere wish for all members here is that you are never in an encounter that would require more than a Model 10.

OK well in that case...… A CZ Checkmate and a tricked out STI 2011. While we're at it...… a Smith 500 Magnum, not that I really want to shoot it much.....but just cause it's cool.

I thought it was Waylon who made those fine firearms???

Yeah, I was just mess'n. Heck, I'm a neophyte and have four (CZ P07; G34 and G43; Bersa Thunder) -- oh, yeah, I mean at the bottom of the water hazard of some hole or other along with some (dozens of) golf balls and a few clubs!

And what about those of us that had to go search for "s&w model 10" to know what you're talking about?

Not to mention those of us that don't own a single Smith wheel gun.

Remember the Will Rogers line..everybody in the world is ignorant, just about different things. Now my friend, go and sin no more. That is find yourself a Model 10 or even a pre 10 in any barrel length made prior to 1982. Let me know immediately on it's arrival so I can know you are safe. BB

Dilly Dilly!

I wonder why some of them are in cardboard and others are in plastic?
Bought that one from Jerek last year. At the time, I asked the same question. Maybe the answer was something like only the black one without lock got the plastic box. Maybe deleting the lock and painting pot metal black saves them a bunch of money?
