Small rant.

So after having to wait way way too long to actually do paperwork back in January I finally got all my form 4s done. 6 of them to be precise.

Packed them up in one big solid shipping envelope. Sealed it, taped it again and mailed it off

Week later I get charged for 3 of them. So I think. Huh, odd, let's wait a few weeks cause of government being stupid.

Few weeks later I check status and after much discussion with an initially very frustrated atf lady, (likely just tired of the same call over and over) she was able to be of great assistance to me in determining that yep, 3 forms were lost. (Of course the 3 coolest ones)

Quite annoying, but no real problem I refile one right away and off I go.

Yesterday I get 3 forms back, thinking sweet suppressor day. Nope. 3 correction letters cause they are all missing pages. 2 of them including the payment info sheet, despite my being charged anyway.

So basically the lesson here guys is to use a credit card if you can, cause if they lose your stuff it is easier to find out, mostly.

Related note check cash date was January 23, letter was sent out July 12. And I was more or less batched.

In conclusion. Atf sucks.

One more reason I don't send a $200 check, go through whatever hoops they can dream up and wait for months just to protect what little hearing I have left.

This seem to describe .gov agencies in general. NCDOR lost an $1100 income tax check I sent them with a return some years ago. After the check not clearing for months and months, I called them. They said they got the return, but not the check, and “Oh, you owe us the $1,100, plus penalties and interest."

Yeah....lots of people told me to send a money order instead of cc payment info. Much harder to get money back if they outright lose it if you do that.
My quasi whining is more to inform those a bit too trusting that the feds can and will lose your paperwork, and there is no recourse, not really.

These things been sitting in the back since the silencerco Bogo event. so bleh.
