A2 Stock

I posted this (I think) a while back but I have since bought a fix stock (https://www.cheaperthandirt.net/pro...tg-black-storage-compartment-4712274529861.do) for one of my ARs. The add for the stock says it is complete.

The question is, Do I have to only take the buffer tube off and install the new stock?

Yes. It looks like it comes with the new tube, buffer and spring. They install a little differently than the collapsible stocks we are all used to now but it’s pretty easy.

You have a collapsible stock now correct? If so everything needs to come off. But like @NKD memtioned above, there’s a spring and detent below the end plate on the lower that works the rear takedown pin. If you’re not careful you’ll lose it. The fixed stocks are a little easier to install.

Thanks, I have remove the buffer chamber on the adj. stock. When building a couple ARs I learned to keep a few detent pins and spring on hand. Just never installed a fixed stock.

I have a rifle that currently has a piece of toothpick in the detent spring channel under the end plate. I mangled a spring during install and had to clip it short because I didnt have another one.
Spring and toothpick combo has not failed yet lmao.

Next time in Palmetto State Armory, they have a bunch of springs, detents and pins there. After building my first AR I knew at that point I need to have a few of those things that go missing/flying on hand.

When ARs were hard to get I bought a couple CMMG piston drive guns. I put one in storage and dressed up the other. The new one I could not get what I wanted for it so this is where the A2 stock was going. It had the split forehand grip like the older ARs I decided this would join the stable of ARs. Since this is a piston gun, I do not have an A2 front sight and the gun does not have a carry handle which I have one that fits on the rail. Not sure I am going to do that because I was going to use flip-up sights. BTW, I had a set of flip-up sights but can not find the front one.

Question is, does anybody have a gas block for a piston gun that has a A2 front sight?

Not aware of any A2 posts for pistons.
I’d consider mounting a DD front sight right on that gas block.

Good move installing an A2 stock. Since my body armor days are long gone I don't use adjustable stocks on my ARs. The A2 stock is much more comfortable to shoot with for me.

rufrdr, I went to the range today to shoot it and I did find it much more comfortable than the adjustable stock. I put some flip out sights on the gun and could not get the front sight tool to adjust the sight. Project for Sunday.
