I made some ABTs today, otherwise known as Atomic Buffalo Turds. This was my first time making these so it was a learning experience. And, I did learn a couple of things.

You'll need:

12 to 18 jalapeno peppers
1 block of cream cheese
Shredded cheese of your choice
Onion
Garlic
Seasoning of your choice
Lil Smokies
Bacon

First, cut the ends off the jalapenos and cut into half, making little boats. If you don't want the heat, remove the seeds and membrane.

Mix the softened cream cheese, onion, garlic, and shredded cheese, and seasoning. I used sharp cheddar and colby cheese and sprinkled in some rub that was given to me by @beamernc . (Very good stuff, thanks). When mixed, spoon into your pepper boats.

Then place a Lil Smokie into each one.

Wrap with bacon. If necessary, secure the bacon with a toothpick. Place on grill, indirect heat. My temp stayed in between 250-300 degrees. I cooked for an hour and a half.

They were awesome! Pretty salty but I think that came from the bacon. I said that I learned a couple of things, I need to work on my bacon wrapping skills and next time I need to make a lot more of these. I had enough of the filling to make 8-10 more halves but I didn't have enough peppers.

These things are perfect for you to experiment with. You can change, add, delete anything that you want. Substitute the jalapenos with bell or banana peppers. Try different cheeses, substitute the Lil Smokie with chicken, sausage, beef, whatever you can think of.

Those look great and would work well in the smoker, too.

I was thinking about possible combination "boats"... pulled pork, chicken, sausage, and of course.... little smokies.

Picked mine up from Burlington Coat Factory for $5 but they're available in many different places to include Walmart, Academy, online, etc

I love ABT's! You will never make enough I did 40 jalapenos (80 ABT's) for a party once thinking it would be enough and it still ran out very early in the party. Now I just don't share them. Pain the the butt putting togethet 80 of these. I always make them in a smoker but have tried the oven once when I had 2 left over jalapenos and they still were good. I did miss tha smoke flavor though.

Have also made them with habaneros, small but pack a bigger punch.
