I'm considering getting a low adjustable gas block.
From what I understand there's a few different types and am looking for ideas on the good, bad, & ugly.

Thanks

Do you prefer the clamp-on type over a set-screw block?

I have superlative and slr ones. My next will probably be a superlative for the bleed off. Just using a red dot so don't care about mirage.

This is certainly different

DICTATOR ADJUSTABLE GAS BLOCK

This 9 position adjustable DI gas block provides the ultimate range of adjustability and versatility. The addition of a suppressor typically increases the level of back pressure within the rifle system. This increase will prematurely wear parts and increase the amount of gas/carbon introduced into the chamber. With the DIctator, you can now control that rate of fire, gas flow and ultimately the reliability of your system.

Absolutely love the detents on the SLR sentry 7. Makes it super easy to adjust and very repeatable. I plan to count detents to have a suppressed and unsupressed setting.

Not a bad plan. I only shoot one type of ammo, so I opened it to the setting where it will just cycle unsuppressed, and now it cycles just fine either way with far less gas when suppressed. Set it & forget it, easy peasy.

Also thought about doing it this way as well but not sure how much extra gas I'd be getting in the face. I still have a couple months on my cans unfortunately..

I really like my sentry 6 but I will admit that since I have mine set to the 3rd from closed to cycle weak wolf/Tula, it does get a lot of carbon build up so I have to rotate the adjustment screw every hundred rounds while it's warm.

If I didn't have my rifle set up with a lw bcg and lw buffer system, I don't think I would have this issue, but it's a comp only rifle and I like shooting cheap steel ammo.

My can captures a good volume of gas, not much comes back to the BCG with the SLR. I don't think you'll have any issue unless you're generating a lot more gas than your can captures.

If your gas system is only permitting enough flow to operate the bolt carrier unsuppressed, you shouldn't be getting much excess gas. There's significantly more relief at the muzzle than in that gas system, once you restrict the gas flow most if not all of the excess should be leaving the muzzle.

This is my experience as well though I never thought about it like that. I just thought I was lucky that I didn't get much blow back with my Griffin alpha/paladin.

I have two of th slr.

I set them for my lowest power ammo and forget em.

I'm running standard Sentry SLR 7's on 2 ARs and a Ti on my BCM and I love them, I opted for the Odin Works adjustable gas block on the .308 and thus far it has been very good, just a bit more involved in tuning it, but its working very well.

If you're going to run an adjustable gas block, do yourself a favor and buy one of these, it is well worth the money!

Thanks,

I finally took "Mother" out and right off it is just on the edge of being under gassed running 150gr.
Mother is 308 24" Bull with ( of course ) Rifle length gas tube.

I'm currently using a fixed block because with some of the few choices available I didn't know for sure if they would fit under the guard.
Even using a fixed block the first one I used ( tried to use ) hit the guard just a touch and I got another one. In the end I may have to change the guard.

There's one or two blocks I've seen ( on web) that look like the adjustment is facing the receiver and if in fact they are makes it a real chore to adjust, or just don't install it.

One thing that is a "Pet Peeve" of mine is manufactures don't list all the specs for their said product, meaning scopes, accessories , etc.

If I'm really interested in said product and call or email ( call mostly w/ email follow up ) I'm told that they don't know and that "Nobody Ask That Question."
Well that's Rich as they made the damn thing.

In the case with "Gas Blocks" there is .200" difference between 15 & 10 "On Axis " gas tube heights so looking for a block designed for a 10 has become a chore. I have been instructed / told just to use the block for a 15 because every one else does.

Yup, to get going that's what I have done til I get a 10 block and there's nothing like "Reforming " the tube to line up "Better" with the 10's Gas Key.

Hey bud, if you would like to shoot my ARs with the SLR gas blocks installed let me know, it will give you a better idea if you think it will be an investment you want to make.

I’ve got plenty of ammo and I’m sure we can make it happen pretty quick, let me know.

This is what I put on my PSA 10, it’s a pain to adjust compared to the SLR Rifleworks blocks but it’s been fantastic since I’ve gotten it properly tuned
