So my wife was on the highway and the truck in front of her had what appeared to be a TV in a box fall out and proceeded to hit her Driver side rear door. It left a sizable scratch and a little dent across most of the door. Most of the scratches are deep and a few seem to be down to steel. Unfortunately she was pretty shaken up and did not follow and get the tag of the truck.
I do not want to contact my Insurance since I have the same for house and had trouble getting insurance once my prior insurance kicked us off because we used it a few times. Plus don’t want insurance to go up.
whats my best option? This is a 2021 crosstrek and don’t really want to leave it like this. Thinking only options is leave it, get repainted or try and find same color model at junkyard.
what do you say and if repaint where is a good but fair place to go?

Take it to a body shop and get an estimate. It don't look like much more than a little filler, prime and repaint with a blend and buff.

Yup, estimate first, looks easy enough.
BTW, don’t be too hard on her for not getting the plate, wouldn’t have mattered since it’s her fault anyway for following too closely to avoid dislodged stuff.

that’s what the police will say. My midget hit a piece of a tire in the dark back in October that came out from under the persons car in front of her. Doesn’t do any good to say you’re too close lol
