Air Fryers

I haven't tried doughnuts in mine, but now I might!

We bought a Frigidaire Double Air Fryer oven about 6 months ago. You are correct, it doesn’t fry. I’ve done fish a handful of times and it is ok, but not as good as fried. Still working on versions of breading to see if I can get it close. Fries are good. Taters. Sweet potato fries. We make parmesan zucchini fries. They are good. Daughter makes tater tots. I have taken wings smoked on the grill and finished them in the air fryer. That works great. BUT, dry rubs tend to burn in the air fryer especially if there is any sugar content. So keep the dry rubs on a grill at lower temps.

I really only use it as a time or convenience tool. I prefer my pellet grill or Big Green Egg for most things. But if the weather is crap and it’s a weeknight I’ll throw it in the air fryer.

Awesome for garlic bread grilled cheese sammiches. Also the best way we've found to cook frozen fries, tots & the like.

I’ve found mine is mostly useful for quick frozen stuff. Tots, fries, chicken tenders, etc. If I order something with fries and they come soggy, air fryer brings them back nicely.

Everything else I’ve done is meh. So basically it’s great for the kind of food o shouldn’t even be eating in the first place!

Makes a great breakfast shortcut. Handful of diced potatos and peppers, couple pieces of bacon thrown on top. Set for 13 minutes at 375. Jump in the shower, come back to crispy bacon and potatos, then just cook a couple eggs over medium on the stove.

Makes really good marinated chicken, pork, beef nuggets too. Just dice up the meat, throw it in a bag of marinade, pop it in the fryer for ~13-14 minutes at 400 and you get nice crispy nuggets.

Breading your own stuff and getting it to turn out well is a bit of a pain, but there are a couple air-fryer breading mixes at the grocery stores that do pretty good.

We have the big Ninja Foodie. Grat fried chick, pork chops, tater tots, ribs,...i like to air fry cube stake then make gravy and let is simmer for a hour or so. Use the pressure cooker lid for neck bones, chili..

I’ve got a Nuwave 6qt air fryer which consumer reports rated highly. I really thought it might be one of those try it a couple times and it quickly goes to the basement storage, but damn if we don’t cook with it 5 days a week.

We regularly do chicken thighs and whole chickens in it, sweet potato fries, green beans, lamb, etc. i did pork loin rubbed in Larue dillo dust tonight, lol. I’ve had that jar of Larue rub in my cabinet for at least 5 years now and thought I’d give it a try, it wasn’t too bad.

Dang. You guys are making me want to try my air fryer out on a lot more stuff. So far I have just done the frozen Arby’s curly fries and fresh asparagus. The asparagus turned out so well. My favorite way to cook it so far. Oil salt and pepper. 11-12 min at 400. Comes out really nice.

An air fryer will do steak to perfection.
how do you get the charcoal flavor in the air fryer?

We use ours all the time for the kids. Tater tots, fries, chicken nuggets, etc.
We've also done blackened shrimp a couple of times. Toss frozen shrimp in a bag with some melted butter, then dump em in the air fryer while still frozen and generously coat with blackening seasoning. cook a few minutes, toss, cook till done. Comes out great.

Playing with my air fryer today. Had it 3 years and the wife had it buried behind stuff. 20210131_121210.jpg

So can I stack the chicken in or is it better to leave just a row on the bottom?

So mine has a double rack that goes in it. I put one layer down and cook for 10 min then put the second rack in and add another layer. Cook for 10-15 min ( depends on if wings, legs, thighs) then swap top to the bottom and finish them up.

I put 5 wings in the 2nd go around and some were overlapping, but not to bad. And they came out pretty good. 1st time was 340 at 11 minutes each side and flipped again with 5 minutes at 400. 2nd was 370 for 12 minutes each side and come out almost the same. Gonna look into that rack, thanks
