I have a older air rifle. Has a wood stock and hand pump. I need a scope for it. Is there a semi decent scope I can get? Say $50? Just looking to pop some squirrels and cheap target practice at the house. Will post a pic of rifle in a few min. Thanks

Here is the rifle. Need to clean it up some :) also the tiny scope on top does not work...

I don't but I learned here a while back that a regular rifle scope won't stand up to the impact of an air rifle. Maybe someone remembers that thread.

I remember that. It's something to do with air rifles having "recoil" in 2 directions...fore and aft. So, a normal rifle scope that is bombproof for recoil in 1 direction falls to pieces on an air rifle.

Anytime you think you have a "top notch" rifle scope, put it on an airgun and watch it fall to pieces. The recoil is actually backwards and will trash a regular scope in less that 50 shots. They make specific scopes for that purpose and that's where you need to look.....

utg bug buster, they are tough and were made for air rifles. it is a bit more than you want to pay. optics aren't the best but it will hold zero. I got a straight 4x on a Sheridan silver streak been running it several yrs. with no trouble

I believe that 2 way recoil comes from the spring air rifles. Yours sounds like a pre-charged pnuematic (PCP), it may take a normal scope just fine. Do the research.

Edit: Now that I'm on a PC and can see the thing, I think that may be a spring gun. I was thinking something entirely different for "hand pump". Do you know the model?

I don't know the model. I know it's a cheap spring type air rifle from China. Lol
