AK-V Debuts in Two Hours

Their AR products are not bad at all. Apparently their current generation 7.62 psaks aren't bad either according Rob at AKOU.

I have heard differently, but what do the natives say? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. :p

@charliesgrave how much was the x39 pistol? Showing OOS now.
$699, I think.
A great price if it were a quality firearm, but I'm not convinced it is.

A Draco with the same brace, a railed upper and Magpul handguard is going to set you back more than that, especially since the cheapest I can find an actual Draco right now (the mini) is like $650 for a bare pistol. And they can't even take standard handguards.

I’d bet the x39 pistol will work fine. I had zero feeding issues on the PSA Gf3 16 inch. I tried every type of mag I own. Though short barrels can be more finicky.

For the price I’d just get a Draco though.

I've had my fair share of PSA and name brand AR's, and I've never had an issue with either.

Now an AK in 9mm? Regardless of who's building it, that just seems like failures waiting to happen. I'm not a fan of jury rigging a rifle platform into a blowback pistol carbine that uses a mix of parts.

Technically, it is a reliable platform and one that's been in use in full military service for decades - the Bizon and the Vityaz. These guns were designed to eat high pressure rounds with no issues. The Bizon's odd helical magazine had some issues and the Vityaz - which is the basis of these new AK-V and KP-9 models - was a big upgrade, due in part to its simplified mag design. Also, the blowback operation is nothing new or complicated, and is popular around the world, regardless if it looks like an AK or not. And the imported NAK, PAK, and various 9mm AK variants already on the market seem to be overall GTG.

Now these new, untested (or public beta tested, in the AK-V's case) guns are a different story. I'm still not fully sure of K-USA's provenance. But once PSA gets the kinks worked out I'm confident they'll have a big, reliable hit.

They've added a few colors to their lineup since February. Mags have gone on sale a few times as well (down to $14.99 each).

Most interestingly to me, is the addition of a rifle variant. This appears to be brand new. The item page shows a folding Zhukov stock, so I wonder if the rear trunnion is a standard design instead of PSA's "puzzle piece" design. This thing is just begging for a triangle stock.

Long ago I had started working on a 9mm AK pistol build... this was before the pistol brace. I think it may be time to revive that project.
