AK wood refinish

Hi guys.

I've been debating refinishing my ugly "blond" wood AK to a more traditional reddish color. Anyone around Wake Forest looking for a project? Or should I take it on myself?

If I take it on, I'm accepting advice on materials and chemicals.

I'll try to get pics another time, but the wood is just the regular light tan/yellow color on the WASR-10. O want to dress it up with a respectable red color.
