Someone feel free to point me to any thread on this that I may have missed in my search.

Who else has noticed problems with not receiving any Alerts to postings they've made?

For instance, I started a thread last night and there are currently 8 responses to it. Not once did I receive any Alerts about this.

As far as I can tell, I am receiving Alerts when people "Like" one of my postings or "Reply" to one of my postings. But for other things, it seems hit or miss.

Email alerts? Are they going to spam?

Are you subscribed to the thread?

Doesn't starting a thread automatically subscribe the author to it?

I stuck my nose in because my "alerts" too seem to be hit and miss.

Just for info, I'm only talking about the Alerts on this site...at the right side of the tool bar. I'm not talking about email notifications of postings and such. I don't care to get email for every Like or thread posting. Conversation notifications and the like, sure. But email isn't where my problem is.

Hopefully the software upgrade will correct this.

What do you have selected here:

Question: If you post in a thread, then you SHOULD get Alerts whenever others post to it afterwards, correct?

This doesn't seem to be happening consistently. Could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it I suppose. For example, I've posted in the "Awesome, Funny, WTF Pictures & GIFs" thread several times. I get notifications any time someone Likes my postings or replies to my postings. However, I don't seem to be getting any Alerts whenever others post their own comments (without referencing me). At least, not consistently.

I notice this in other threads, as well...inconsistent Alerts to threads I've posted in. Doesn't seem to happen ALL the time, though.

I don't believe so, unless you subscribe to a thread.

I get alerts if somebody likes my post, quotes my post, mentions me in a most, or sends me a PM...and I think that's it.

Correct. Unless you've subscribed to the thread you won't get alerts on post made unless they referred to, liked, or quoted you.

There is a setting to automatically subscribe to threads you post in. I'll see if I can find it...

OK, I found it...I just checked the box for "Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply". Let's see what happens now...I'll post the results when I get back.

It MIGHT be overload for some threads...could swamp out other Alerts. Might be why it's not a default setting.

Anyway, I'll post a follow up later.

I got your reply as an alert. I'll try not quitting you and see if you get the alert. I did "watch" this thread not the check boxes for all. Lol

Well, that seemed to have done the trick! I'm getting Alerts now for those threads I mentioned as being problematic before!

Well...at least a couple of them. Time will tell if this is a consistent thing.

:)
