a friend gave me this older SuperHet 5/35 watt 2 meter transceiver. I was doing some research and it looks like the T model has up to 50 watts power. Anybody ever owned this or other older Alincos?

I saw you can get the EJ memory upgrade board still, but from China so I am sure its a knockoff. Cheap enough for 80 more memory channels.

When I got my license in 94 my first radio was an Alinco DJG1T 2 meter handheld. It's still my one and only handheld. I've been using it for 24 years and it works as good as the day I bought it. Even the original battery still takes a good charge. I also have a AA battery pack for it. I've never seen the need to get a newer handheld. Alinco made good stuff!
You can see the user reviews of your radio on EHAM:

I had one, worked good and was compact. I liked the extended receive feature when fire and police were still on VHF.

I forgot to mention that my HF rig is an Alinco DX70 80-10m + 6m. I took it to the beach in 2014 and operated 10 meters. Here's my YT video of it if you're interested:

Good radio. I used one for several years.

 wish I could even remember my first radio. That was 1983. Got my ticket when I was just 8 years old.

Mine was a Santec HT-1200 and a KDK mobile, still have both and they still work. I miss my Kenwood 820S.

I still remember mine but it was only 5 years ago lol.

ICOM V-8000

The other Non HT radios in the order of ownership after the V8000

ICOM 706MKII
KENWOOD tm-261a
KENWOOD TS-2000
ICOM 706MKII

I’ll have me another TS-2000 with a tuner again sometime. Even though I am a big ICOM fan, and love the 706s. But the little radio that keeps chugging is the 261a

Currently use a yeasu 857d. That's about as hi tech as I'll get. As long as it dont quit that's the last one I'll buy. So far almost 15 years on it.

clip the blue wire and it will transmit on all those abandoned freqs lol. I really wanna get this thing put in my truck, but I need a handset mic for it, and a decent NMO Mount for the Comet SB5 that came with it

Found out my final stage is bad. Looks like the good ol Toshiba S-AV17 died a good death. Anyone got any ideas on where to get one from a non-chinese-fake source and not pay more than the radio is worth?

FWIW Icom, Kenwood, and others use the same IC in their similar spec 50W 2M radios. They all are prone to heat failure.
