Anybody catch the premiere ?

The book was great and so far the series is doing a good job of representing.

Forgot about that. I don't have cinemax sadly. Loved the book. Was actually listening to the full cast 10th anniversary audiobook during work last week. Cast is excellent from what I saw. Guess I'll have to be a year behind on netflix...

It's on STARZ so probably won't get that many hits but so far it's pretty tight to the book. I recently read the 10 year extended content book too.

I started watching the show....I didn't know anything about it. The first episode left me scratching my head a little due to that fact. I haven't decided if I'm going to watch the rest yet.

Done with it. I've got too many books to read to spend my time on that show. Read the book years ago and it was decent. The show just doesn't work.

Caught the premier last night on demand. One of the more interesting shows I've seen in a while. Even the wife liked it and says she could get into it.

It watches like that main character who just got out of prison is a pawn in some fort of game of thrones being played out by Nordic gods or something but is too blind to see what Hell he is getting himself involved in. It is also apparent that the gods are diminished and need to be worshipped to regain power (a la the sex scene). Not sure where this is going but it's going to be an interesting ride.

Good show. Hope they make it good as the book. Looks promising so far.

Same here, hadn't read the book. Felt the same way about the first episode and figured I'd drop it. @bigfelipe has read the book and told me a little about it, so I decided to stick with it a bit longer.

The focus on the cinematography really slows down the pacing. If you don't appreciate that aspect, you'll want to make use of the FFWD button on the drawn out non-speaking scenes.

The leprechaun is hilarious, and the show does have a fair bit of humor.

Not Nordic gods in particular, but generally the 'old gods', i.e., the various gods that the different cultures have worshipped in the past, who are growing weaker as the people have abandoned and forgotten them and turned to the 'new gods' of television and technology.

I just binged watched season 1 this week! Awesome show...Weird at times..But a good show.
When is season 2 starting??

DS

I bailed after several episodes. Too slow.

Also the lefty bias was a bit too much. The murder of criminal Mexican border crossers was ridiculous. If we were doing that, we wouldn't have an illegal immigration issue.
