Ammo headstamps to avoid in 9mm PCCs.

If your PCC is ammo sensitive, you have the wrong PCC.

Point taken about being ammo picky, but the problem the linked article talks about would be a valid point about ANY blowback design, including the Hipoint.

I've had problems with Ammoload stepped cases. Maybe the brass is too thin at the case mouth? I dunno but after sizing normally FMJ bullets would push in with near zero neck tension. Doesn't happen with other head stamps, just the stepped crap. Normally I'm loading coated which runs large, so this problem doesn't present and I can ignore it. But if I buy a batch of plated or fmj I have to cull ammoload etc. even for pistols.

I pitch all brass that has the sleeve inside, 9mm brass is cheap/free, so why bother with something different.

I'm always very skeptical of blogs and videos that make a big hyperbolic point about how something is "garbage" or how you should "throw the shit away." He's not necessarily wrong, but he's being a little bit obnoxious. Why the hype?

Also, this bit:

the back of the case rips itself free from the forward thin part. This leaves the forward part stuck inside the chamber, and hopefully the round didn’t squib.

If the bolt is coming back with enough force that we're talking about case-head separation, then it obviously didn't squib. More hype trying to elicit an emotional reaction and get people scared of having their gun blow up in their face. To what end?

My first experience with Ammoload headstamped brass was when I bought "New" ammo (not reloaded) from Freedom Munitions. This was before I started reloading. The problem I had was that the primers were falling out. Literally.

After I started reloading, I ran across some more of the stepped brass, and had problems resizing them. When I did a little more checking online, I found out about the case separation issue. I toss them all now.

I think what he meant is that the bullet did not lodge in the barrel. I still can't see how the brass would split without enough pressure to push the bullet out of the barrel.

Don't you also have to adjust the powder charge for the reduced case volume?

Actually, the case volume does not change much, not enough to matter. The "normal" cases have walls that are tapered in thickness. The stepped cases are not tapered, just stepped.
