An ancient language not heard in a 1000 years

At 17 years old I bought a 57 Chevy. $800.
Three on the tree, no power steering, no power brakes, vacuum windshield wipers, and it had a 235 straight six.
The rear shocks went not from the axle to the frame, but from the axle to the body. Stuff like railroad tracks would jar your teeth loose.
But my favorite thing (not) was adjusting the solid lifters.., when it was running.
The day I bought it, of course first thing is to go to the gas station and fill it up for cruising the beach. I spent 20 minutes looking for the gas cap. An old lady came up and showed me where it was, behind the chrome trim on the rear fin. lol. Sweet.

But it had wing widows with a little crank, the back seat was huge, and I was king of the drive in! Had all of the critical elements a 17 year old could ever want.

Your post brings back memories, especially about adjusting solid lifters!
