"If not for the NRA firearms would have been banned in the 1990’s. We all recognize the NRA is more than a political functionary, you help build our ranges, teach our children and manage our competition.

"You are a $300,000,000 plus organization that simply cannot be replaced.

"So I’ve waited to write this letter, having seen the good the NRA does it was and is important to gather all the information before voicing my opinion.

"So here it is:

"CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!"

I'm a member of the NRA, but not by my choosing, the gun range I belong to requires that you be a member of the NRA to be a member of the club, proof of an active NRA membership is required when you join, and each year when you pay club dues.
If it wasn't required by the gun club they wouldn't get a penny from me ,but sadly it is.
When they called recently asking for donations I tried to politely decline but the telemarketer wouldn't let it go.
So I explained everything I was unhappy about , kickbacks, lavish dinners, wasting of dollars that you're getting from me.
His reply was sometimes theirs a cost of doing business that the layman doesn't understand.
So you're telling me I'm stupid, but you'll still take my money. No thanks.

The bold parts would have been my responses...followed by "click." Or maybe "slam." :D

Hey...

It’s 4D chess. There’s no way we can possibly comprehend the complexities of selling out the RTKBA while attempting to maintain the illusion of “fighting the good fight and slugging it out in the trenches.”

Now...send in your most generous contribution; Wayne has a safari scheduled and spokesmodel Chris Cox has gotta get an eyelid tuck.

But hey...in a few days, you’ll receive some Chinese sh*t, emblazoned with “NRA”.

..............

My club used to do that. Enough of our members objected to that exclusive policy that our policy changed to "any national pro 2A organization." A lot of members changed to GOA. Try that with your club.

At our club, the range is covered by NRA insurance policy. that's the reason for the membership requirement if I remember correctly

I joined a number of years ago.... and only for a single year.

  • They sent me URGENT membership renewal notices, even before I received my initial membership card, within 3 weeks of initially joining.
  • They solicited me for a number of products that are NOT 2A, gun, hunting related, such as subscribing to their wine program.
  • Then there was the credit card offers, special merchandise, insurance, donation requests, etc., etc., at the rate of 5 - 6 a month.
  • They mailed me an unsolicited DVD, then sent dunning notices because I didn't send the $19.95 payment for the DVD, which I never did.
  • They recommended I vote for a politician that was not really 2A friendly.
  • And I received an URGENT renewal notices monthly, and probably for 3+ years after I let my membership lapse.
Guess you could say 'one and done'
