Another Insect ID Thread

Anyone know what kind of beetle this is? I started seeing them on my driveway and in my garage the past year or two.

They’re spooky looking because they will stop and turn their head and look at you just like a Praying Mantis will do.

They’re large, about 1-1/2” long.

I did the Google thing at looked at hundreds of pictures of different kind of beetles and haven’t found anything that looks like this thing.

Nevermind. I figured it out. It’s an Oil beetle.
