This time it is my brother's octogenarian father-in-law.
Here was diagnosed with liver cancer this week.
Don't know the prognosis yet.
Given his age, it iis probably not good.
My brother has a big house and the in-laws have lived with them since they bought that house.
Access to great care too. Same hospital that treated our father's terminal cancer back in '98.

I address him as Don Jose. His grand children call him Lalo because when they were toddlers they had a hard time saying abuelo.[emoji1]

Got an update from my brother on how this was found.

Gracias. Gigi did not take the news well, but she's doing better. The girls were more positive - "at least they caught it early" (they are likely wrong about that). Carlos doesn't know yet (just knows that Lalo is at the hospital again). And find this all out because C....... took him to the ER at 2:00 Mon am because his knees hurt a lot after he fell leaving the casita after half time and thought he might have broken a leg. No issues there, but the my did a ct scan to check for bleeding due to his age and the fall. That's when they saw numerous shadows on his liver. He's resting at Lahey as they wait for his blood levels to return to normal before they do the biopsy - expect that could take 2-5 days, then he stays another day after the biopsy.

[Carlos is his brother-in-law, early 50's and has down syndrome]

octogenarian? I pray simple, hopefully it all comes out better than expected.
Octogenarian is someone in their 80's. I don't know his exact age. 81,82 I think.
He's had some health issues over the last few years but nothing this serious.
You would be hard pressed to find a kinder man. Having raised a son with down syndrome, he has a level of patience rarely seen.

Prayers up.

May God's grace shine upon him.

Latest news is not good.

"Given his other issues (kidneys/heart), there really are no realistic options for his liver. And no biopsy to figure out cause, time, etc. due to his other health issues. So it's make him comfortable and see how it goes. "

My interpretation is that due to other health issues here is too weak to withstand treating the liver cancer. Now it is just iis just waiting and hoping the pain can be managed when it comes to that.

My brother let us know that the time is now short.
Lalo degraded fast in the last 24 hours.
He is in home hospice care surrounded by family.

Brother said Lalo likely won't make it through the weekend.
It will soon be time for him to go rest high on that mountain.
